If you want to argue the thread post in AWOL. If you want to post technically post here. Simple. The OP specifically asked for that and I think his request was reasonable. Joe between here and your smart ass comments on the other site I am done with you for a while.

I don't care if the timing maps get posted but showing all the little tricks is something altogether different.

I for one never thought it was right to post up others maps in the past and to do it like this is very up setting. To the normal person looking at a single map means nothing, the whole tune strategy has to be understood as a whole and why that tuner came across the need to have his map that way.

Do what you must but I for one think this is BS and will be more of a which hunt then useful info.

How many maps would need to be posted up to have a good understanding of the total timing in a given tune? If I correctly understand the nature of this thread it is just to talk about timing. Do you have any suggestions on how this information could be presented in a way that educates the users and makes for good discussion?

Matt has sent me a PM and requested that there are limits to which maps from his tuning are posted. His request made good sense to me and seemed fair.

I agree that a full tune should not be shown in this thread, but if you have a valid argument and can use a part of that tune as proof than so be it. I am all for keeping these tunes somewhat secret, but I also believe people need to see things to believe them sometimes.

I think we can all show respect for all tuners in this thread. If they would rather not have something seen, than we should abide by that request.

If you thought it was not right them why would you not post your feelings when another tuner has his maps being posted? Is it only not right when it is happening to you?

Well the other thing to it besides the maps is go beyond the maps to real life. Things shown on a screen or tabulated on paper are different then what can actually be happening in real life. Our real life tool is the dyno, hundreds of hours have gone into our tunes with the use of the dyno as the true judge. From experiance with other platforms and much much more accurate software it is very evident when timing is too far. No different then a gas engine and timming, add timming until power peaks then reduce slightly for a cushion, diesel is no different.

I am leaving the country Sunday so I will not be a part of this thread for long.

Might have something to do with us being a full service shop with a month backlog and not having time to follow every single thread dissing every single tuner's parameters for the last 5 years. WHAT'S YOUR GRIPE? :blah:

I have no doubt you are busy yet the post also shows who reads them. No gripes here just the facts.

So from the first set of tables what are the facts?

The stock tuning from the factory has maximum allowable limit of 135 deg. Although, it was posted in the other thread that this was something done by DP-Tuner. You can plainly see that was false information being posted for everyone to see. This is the same all the way up through 2003 stock.

I'm not taking sidess here, but I never took it that DP tuner changed that value to 135, just that in that particular tune it was 135.

So, in all of the tunes that you were comparing MRT1 what was the Maximum Injector Timing parameter set at?

So that was the line i guess. Can this topic be illustrated with your personal tunes MRT1?

Maybe instead of trying to tell everyone what other tuners tunes are doing, we can use this as an opportunity to discuss some safe parameters in a context that will allow the general public here to educate themselves enough on the topic to shop confidently.
