A More Durable Degas: Mishimoto’s 6.0L Aluminum Degas Bottle R&D

Yeah. Seems like they just went whatever way they wanted and didn't do any additional testing for aftermarket components which most use. I was going to get one, but bought an OEM one instead when mine cracked and I had it epoxied waiting on this one. It lasted nearly 200k and that's sufficient...

    New tires for the 450

You can use the same all the way around. All of our service trucks are 2wd and most of the other ones around probably are as well, which is more than likely why everyone including myself suggested steers and drives be different. As long as they're rotated and balanced regularly with proper...

    6.0 electric question

Like Zmann said, may have an aftermarket one. If it does, the tensioner should have a 1/2" square drive hole in it to put a ratchet in and pull up on so that the belt will come off.

    New tires for the 450

Yeah. The weight distribution is definitely uneven. Viewin my truck from the rear on level ground makes it obvious. They won't allow us to change anything, so I just rotate them and keep air in them. I work at the local CAT dealer. They are pricey, but it's another "get what you pay for" situation.

    6.0 electric question

Pull up on the belt by then tensioner. There's a small metal tab that will lock the tensioner in place that's sticking out underneath the tensioner. I have a new carquest* alternator on mine that I got at advance auto parts that they price matched for me from Amazon at $130. Voltage should be...

    New tires for the 450

The continental HDR didn't last well on my F550 service truck. At 41k, they were nearly bald and I rotated them every 7,500 and kept air in them. I got Michelin XDS2 tires for the drives and the XZE for steer tires. I had them on my last F550 and they wore great. Somewhat noisy, but they work...

How much to pay for 06 6.0?

I'd have him check to make sure that it's had the e g r D e l e t e, oil cooler, head studs, coolant filtration, oil cooler, and such done for that kind of money. And I'm hoping that it's a 4x4 as well, only namely for the resale value. Also, Ford spec on the oil temp/ coolant temp delta is...

How much to pay for 06 6.0?

I would recommend getting a Edge CTs or similar from a friend to hook up to it to check coolant/ oil deltas, Ficm voltage, and alternator output. Check all the fluids. And regular vehicle inspection stuff

    Help...starting system failure

If the batteries aren't good, they just installed a new PCM in one of our trucks and they had to put a new starter in mine because of it. Both of them said that in the dash display.

    Accidental use of synthetic oil

My 2015 F-550 can and chassis service truck came with 10W30 from the factory. I use the CAT 10W30 and Donaldson filters. Service it every 7,500 because that's what they make us do. All good oil samples with CAT SOS.

    05 Headlight upgrade

As long as you got the H13/9008 LED bulbs for the 05-up lights, the adapters should fit. If they don't, contact retro solutions on here. They can hook you up with good adapters and bulbs if you need any others.

    wheel sensors

If they're aftermarket or Ford, they'll have to be recalibrated. Your truck may also not agree with the sensors if they're aftermarket, even if they're recalibrated.

    Wheels for trade

I'd also take a trade for a set of factory 05-07 20" wheels with 37s and some cash.

    Which coolant....green or gold??

Best thing to do is a complete flush of the old coolant and a refill with ELC, rsater1. CAT sells the coolant test strips and also the ELC extender, which is CATs version of an SCA additive. It's made specifically for CAT ELC.

    need some help

If you can't get it to balance as Sterling6.7 stated, you may need to have the tires trued. I know cutting tread off sucks, but it's better than buying completely new tires to get them to balance out.

    Wheels for trade

22" Dick Cepek DC Torque wheels and 37x13.50r22 Toyo MTs w/ ~20% tread that have been balanced and have new valve stems and 17x10 -24 Eagle alloy 058 wheels with 37x12.50r17 Cooper ST tires w/40-60% tread that have been balanced and trued w/ new valve stems. Id like a set of 18,20, or 22 x 12 or...

    Need some help

This is an exceedingly commonplace practice amongst shops around here as well. Some yahoo opens his own shop as said above and does the same thing to people. It's an across the board thing here- equipment, cars, trucks- you name it. People get their work done by these bozos who bungle it and...

    Baldwin Filters

Baldwin filters are cheaper for a reason. Poorer quality filtration media, end caps, casings, and no oil check valve which is what keeps oil in the filter for startup. Their fuel filters also tend to be a higher micron rating and will let more through than a factory filter. I've worked at the...
