    You probably have an injector problem, you need to scan it for codes and look at injector data. If you keep driving like that the DPF will pull up.

    It's not piston to valve clearance to worry about when the heads are cut, it's the preload on the cam, when you cut the heads you add preload.     Does anybody know if running boards from an AlumiDuty will fit on 99-16 trucks? or what it takes to make them fit? Also what are the good aftermarket running boards? I need to replace a set and nice OEM boards are a little scarce, but I'm seeing new take-offs from AlumiDuties for sale.

    Intermittent no start

    If it's a no-crank/no-start, try disconnecting the fan at the connector in front of the fuel filter housing. I faulty fan clutch can cause that no-crank condition.

    It sounds to me like a cracked injector nozzle, it'll dump so much fuel they are hydro-locking which is making the noise. When they are dumping fuel like that you can "taste" the diesel fuel when you can near the exhaust. If the nozzle is cracked you have a fuel pressure issue.
