I've never relied on engine oil for these. I either use dielectric grease or STP...

STP is amazing...

As far as the Parker lube goes, my buddy just got me a bunch of it. I'm in the experimental phase right now with it, I've been using it on my pool/hot tub/house water filter o rings. If it passes then I'll take it to work.

It's just strange that I can't recall any failures with these when I installed them...

That one E series I had it had a huge leak. It had just gotten stc update and both tubes 6 months prior... Left side was blown out big time. Put it back together, oh shit the pump leaking too wtf, they biffed the o ring on the 1 piece stc... Re psi tested after installing new, **** the right side tube is blown too... All 3 parts the prior shop installed all blown o rings... What the **** did they use on install??..?

That was tough to explain to customer that everything he just paid to have changed.... Was blown again...

I still think that the parts themselves are to blame for a bunch of the failures (and especially when aftermarket parts are used). That said, no doubt in my mind that some people are not taking proper precautions on the installation. I would like to think that everyone in the business of charging for repair work would easily and properly install standpipes, but I know that isn't the case....unfortunately some people just don't care.

So many parts suppliers advertise their stuff as "Motorcraft" and "OEM", but it is obvious that they are counterfeit. It is a BIG problem.

I know this post is older but I think you may have an answer I'm looking for. Doing studs and front cover upgrade on my early 03 6.0. Now it'll hav the 100mm w/p. I found a good 6.0 that must be a late 03 04 because it has the wavy oil rails but still has 18mm dowels and has cast hpop cover with the aluminum pump. I needed the heads so I installed them but when I went to install the log style rail I quickly realized I messed up. Rocker cover mounting bolts are different compared to wavy style. Can I get different stand pipes to run the wavy style with my early 03 hpop? Thanks for your time if you ever read this.
Appreciate the info. This is the first 6.0 I've tore into. I swapped the rocker box back to the correct one. Now as soon as I get the oil cup o-rings I'll install them and should be good. Thanks again!

Reviving this....

Pulled the engine and tore it down. Dumped significant coolant out of the passenger exhaust manifold. Also confirmed a bad egr cooler. The coolant sat in some of the cylinders and started pitting. Also found a trashed lifter and matching cam lobe. Needless to say she's getting bored at the machine shop.

I'm looking at the Dynamic Diesel rebuild kit that comes with the stage 1 cam. Any opinions on dynamic diesel rebuild kits?

Will also be going with the KDD base cast iron heads with arp's. Probably going to split and port my own intake manifold, t4 s363, maybe some 190s.

Is there anyone else's rebuild kit that would be comparable from a vendor on here?

Making some progress on the rebuild.

I'm installing arp rod bolts(mainly because I had them on the shelf), and I noticed the original bolt had a thin sleeve on it(see pic). Do the arp bolts need this too? They seem they could be hard to remove from the original. Trying to get these piston/rod assemblies in today, so would appreciate any feedback.

Is there any o-rings on these branch tubes that can he replaced(other than the mounting o-rings)? Or is this just a clean and reinstall piece? Thanks.

I replace the entire j tube when I do a pump. There are o rings in there and I have never been able to source them

Ok, I figured there was some type of seal in there that could fail. Do you have a part number or link to a new one? I'll do some digging to see if I can find it as well.

The updated design J-tube part number is 3C3Z-9T288-AA (comes with the internal viton o-ring, teflon backer ring, and metal retaining ring.).

@DEEZUZ gave good advice - change the J-tube with any HPOP work.

I like these threads to contain the part numbers posted so people doing searches can find the answer (not having to re-create the work).

If you have found individual o-ring part numbers it would be great for you to post them, with their description.

For '03's that don't have the updated HPOP cover, it is a good thing to have: It is part #3C3Z-9G805-AA

The updated '04 HPOP cover part number (contains the IPR valve) is part #4C3Z-9G805-AA, I have been told that it fits the '03's also.

I am not a Bostech fan (I think they use cheap materials), but the attached diagram shows all of the o-rings in the system.

Bismic, thanks for the part numbers. In my searches I haven't found just a o-ring kit. All I'm finding is the j-tube with o-rings as deezez said.

Quite the cost difference between aftermarket and oem. But I think I'll stick to oem.

My hpop cover has the ipr mounted on the cover.

Good deal! The high pressure oil system is hot and high pressure. In MY opinion, it is most certainly an area of the engine where good quality parts (especially o-rings and gaskets) are important.

Also it's good practice with all of these hpo o rings, once you roll them on, say the top D o ring on the j tube, to let them sit for an hour... Like resealing 7.3 heuis... You must let them sit and relax back into their size.

I use STP engine oil additive on all o rings. It's super thick and nice for pulling assemblies together.

J tubes have all o rings installed. They even give you a bonus outlet d ring

Nice tip. I also like to preheat the o-rings and then let then rest. A hair dryer can be used, but I like to heat up a jar of oil (in the oven to 175 degrees) and then dunk the o-ring or at least slowly pour the oil over it. Then the rest period!

Gentleman, I've had a fairly bad experience with dynamite diesel performance and machine when it comes to sourcing my rebuild kit. The kit they sent me had mostly 6.0 stuff in it. I first noticed they failed when I tried to install the 6.4 rod bearings in the 6.0 rods. (Crossed referenced the number and found out they were for the 6.4) I got on the phone and they made it "right" quickly. While on the phone I also had them check other part numbers. Come to find out the gasket sets were also for the 6.4. (Side note: I also ordered ford oem head gaskets with the kit as well.) Tonight I noticed they didn't swap out the mahle head gaskets for the ford oem(that I paid 150 extra for).

I really wanted to set these heads this weekend. What risks do I run with running the mahle head gaskets? I'm calling ddpm tomorrow morning to see if they will overnight me a set of oem at their costs.

Im just frustrated and venting.
