I know people have lots of opinions on wheel spacers, but...
Just curious if anyone is running 08-10 factory wheels on 00-04 trucks using a wheel spacer. I am sure with the offset of the newer wheels the tire will hit the leaf spring. My neighbor has a nice set of 08 20's I can get for next to nothing to run on my '03. Just curious if it would work, and if so how much spacing needed? Not even sure how I feel about it myself, just thought I would throw this out there. See what kind of feedback I get.

I just sold my wheels to a friend of mine whom needed new tires on his 04. Which 2" spacers do ya'll recommend installing to push the wheels out? He doesn't use the truck to tow very heavy loads.

I mounted a set on a friends 99, they fit fine with the right tire but yes once you get into the wider tire you will need a 2" spacer.

I ran the 05 18" wheels on my truck(pic in avatar) with 275/70's and it rubbed the passenger leaf spring when turning. It has 1/4" spacers on it to. I liked the look but took them off because it needed tires and I couldnt put the tire I wanted on them because I knew it would rubb even worse!

BACK SPACING

99-04......4"
05-07.......18"and 20"(from the factory) have 5.80" BS, and the 17" have 5.50"

00-04s came with 16s (unless it was a Harley Edition, they had 18s)...they don't clear the calipers on the 05-08s.
A 04 HD wheel would fit on a 05-08 since they were 18s, but they had less backspacing so they sit further out of the wheel wells on 05-08s.

05-08s fit on the 99-04, just rub on the leaf springs and sit further under the truck than they do on the 05-08.

Offset is the location of the wheel mounting surface in relation to the true center of the wheel......normally in mm.
Negative does move it inward.

So....

A 20x10 wheel with a 4.5" BackSpace will have approx -24 or -25mm offset.
A 20x12 wheel with a 4.5" BackSpace will have approx -51mm offset.

FYI, 25.4mm=1"

I have a 2004 6.0 PSD with a 6" pro comp lift and 35s on 16x8 wheels..I wanna go bigger but not sure the offset I need to minimize rub on the leafs..I realize I may not be able to completely eliminate it,but Im thinkin 18x9" wheels with 37s..any thoughts on whether it will work or not..??!
