If you find the right company that is willing to take the time to properly balance it then speed will not be an issue. I've had mine 180km/hr and don't have vibration issues, however that's with 38.5" tires and 3.55 rear so shaft rpm stays fairly low.

For just general reference(pretty average setup), 35" tires with 3.73 at 80mph gives a shaft rpm of 2865. If you can get the shop to balance the shaft to 3500-4000rpm even with a little extra $$ persuasion then your laughing.

Here's another option I considered. It would handle high speed much better because of the reduced weight. Strength was my only concern, although I'm sure its very strong. I mean just look at the name. The only aluminum shaft with a slip yoke built in (that I know of) so the transfer case doesn't need to be modded to a slip shaft.

Actually I also ran the same one piece when I won in 2012. Saw 116mph 1/4 mile passes and sled pulls.

This has been a very interesting thread. Sadly I might not be able to do a 1 piece since I have a cclb the shaft might be too long. Maybe I'll look at the 450 driveshaft like you suggested Jared. How long is your one piece Erik? You have a lot of lift in that truck so I'm assuming they had to add some legenth to make up for the lift.

Like Jared said I got a new 450 shaft. Had all new Spicer joints and carrier bearing put in with the ouo carrier bearing drop. I love it so far. No vibration what so ever.

Anyone know if duramax owners have problems with their aluminum drive shaft that what I want to upgrade to but I'm ecsb so I already have one piece. Buddy of mine has 1 piece in his ccsb on 40s and has no problems

Just because a lot of guys have switched to a 1 piece shaft, doesn't make it right. With that said, I have a 1 piece shaft..

Whats the deal with the 450 shaft? Whats different between that and the 250/350?

Great info guys. I was also curious about duramax shafts, because I believe that they use 1 piece factory shafts. Wonder what it would take to do an aluminum shaft?

There pretty well the same shaft. Just had to shorten the rear piece and the rear is also 1480 joints vs 1410. Figured if Jared is pulling his with zero issues I shouldn't have any issues.
