I want to upgrade my rear 2-piece driveshaft on my ECLB F-250 obs with a 10.25 diff so its able to run a 4" .090 min wall shaft with 1480 u-joints. I currently have 1350's and am wondering what parts it would take to run 1480's and where can I get them? I'm assuming new yokes but where could I buy them?

Not sure you will find a 1480 for a sterling. Call Randy's ring and pinion. If its available they will have it. That is a serious joint. I am installing a set of Dana 80's with 1480's. but I have yet to find the flange yoke for the t-case in a 1480.

I'm currantly runniing 1480s and a single rear driveshaft. Decided to switch after blowing a few ujoints and breaking my rear yoke. I had Rocky Mountain Drivetrain build the shaft and they supplied me with the yokes and everything else that was needed.

I dont think i can run a one peice shaft being a ext cab long box... thatd be a loooong shaft.... did you have to change out your pinnion yoke to accept the bigger 1480 cap's?

Yeah I changed both yokes. I would be scared to run a one piece on your truck. Hes builds the shafts for Elite and Ats and has built a few for ex cab long beds they were dodges though. I don't see yours being much longer then mine is. I know they make 1350 to 1480 ujoints you can buy. I think it was worth the money

Same here, so for know I'll upgrade to 1410's and that can be my "weak link" instead of the axle, lol. what would it take to put in a dana 80 in an obs? Cut n move the spring perches? What would have to be doe brake wise??

what makes the stearling 10.25 so weak?? I know the diff it self is smaller and has 35 spline axles compared to a dana 80 with there 37 splines....

would it be swap wise to go with a dodge or an older ford dana 80??? what would be involved with swapping in a aam 11.25

Careful, most 80's are 35 spline.

In 2010.5 the sterling received and updraded 37 spline pinion shaft with 37 spline axles shafts on the higher GVW f350 srw trucks. Not sure where the cut off piont is. But prolly over 10,000lb. Just a thought for ya. The f250 trucks have a 37spline pinion shaft with 35 spline axle shafts as always

ok, my bad guys I thought D80's were 37 splines... so there a 35 spline, then what is the stearling 10.25 32 spline?? what makes them so weak compared to others?? still anwser as to what year trucks a D80 would work for an obs?? I dont really want to convert to disk brakes, I have no issues with a well setup rear drum brake...

Sterling 10.25 = 31spline pinion shaft and 35spline axle shafts on ALL trucks. 10.25" ring gear

Sterling 10.50 99-2010.5 = 31 spline input shaft with smaller pinion bearing. 35 spline axle shafts and 10.5" ring gear. U can take the 10.25 ring and pinion and install it on the 10.5 and use the larger "earlier" pinion bearing and then use the added clearance from the 10.25 ring on the 10.5 housing to use sholdered ring bolts from a dana 80 which makes the 10.25 stronger then the stock 10.5 as that was the weakness on the older axle to make a hybrid axle if u will.

Sterling 10.5 2010.5-now = 37 spline pinion shaft with 35spline axle shafts with available open or e-locker. This is on all f250 models and some 350 models in SRW but not sure how many

Sterling 10.50 2010.5 - now = 37 spline pinion shafts with 37 spline axle shafts which are .15" bigger (if my memory is right) avaiable with open or e-locker on some f350 models with upgraded gvw capicaty for towing but not sure what that number is.
