Have a little weird one here. 2002 f250 with 7.3 will stall in reverse. Not like the converter is dragging it down, like instantly kill when you select reverse. At that time it will lose communication with the PCM. Anyone seen this or an issue like this. Installed new transmission range sensor and no change. Had some oil soaked connector and wires near the sensor cleaned up will read correct in P,N,D,1,2. Bu when revers it kills instantly and looses communication.

Remove the chip and see if the problem goes away.

Is it tuned? Sounds like incorrect pcm strategy was used

Yes will do it either hot or cold engine. Has edge evolution tuner. Any time hit reverse either from park or driver back to reverse. Will kill the engine instantly. And transmission range sensor could be classified as the neutral safety switch on the side of transmission. Thanks for any insight.

Perhaps bypass the switch.. it sounds electrical now. TCC issue would do it in drive also.

Had a bad fuse panel junction box. Something internal was goofy only had 8 volts on couple of the fuses. Replaced with new panel cured the issue. It had smelled burned inside.
