I've done a little research and have found that there's a relay in the 02' F250's that goes bad and causes the whole instrument cluster to fail.

But what about if it's just the tach that's not working?
Would the whole cluster need replaced?
If so is the mileage stored into that specific cluster or stored into the truck's computer?

Thanks

Mileage is stored in the cluster itself. Would either have to have the mileage from a used cluster Programmed into the cluster or just leave it alone and the mileage be wrong. There's alot going on in those clusters. If I had to guess the tach could be not working because. A.) the clusters bad or B.) The source telling the cluster RPM's is malfunctioning.
