2003 f250 6.0 alternator wiring help!!!

Hey guys, I purchased this truck and the previous owner changed connector at alternator, well after going over wiring diagram, I see how the wires need to be connected, with the exception of this red wire that they have hooked up. Anybody know where this should go? Thanks!!!

God is that a mess. Maybe you already have this, but it should only be two wires, I circuit to cluster for turning on determining if the diodes are working, A circuit to sense the voltage of the system and adjust current to maintain.

They may have fudged around if the cluster circuit faulted, or the other work-around is if the fusible link to the battery cable splice faulted another pathway. But factory, should only be two circuits to the connector although some replacement connectors have three wires out of it.

I'll throw in more then you probably need.

Thanks for the info, yes it is a mess... I know it should ne two wires, I'm trying to figure out if the red wire is someones overlay, or if it should go somewhere else? The connector that they used to replace it is an aftermarket 3 wire, and they have the middle wire used instead of the the one closer to passenger side. As you can see in the picture, the one wire was cut and not even hooked up.

And the cut and not connected wire is the cluster I circuit, which turns the alternator on. So the first thing I would do is check that it has no voltage key-off, but voltage key-on but not start or run. If it works fine, then that should be connected to the right, third pin looking at the open end of the connector with the tab lock down. It's in the vid.

The other question might be did someone use an alternator from a different motor and try to adapt it to a Powerstroke? As a different alternator might use a different pin assignment.

I hadn't thought about alt being different model. I'm gonna check power at wire. Thanks for the info!

So when testing wires for voltage at connector, it is not putting out anything. So now my question is should I just replace the harness? Or is there something else that might need to be checked? Thanks.
