2006 f350 back up lamps

Got an 06 f350 dually with the auto trans. The back up lights only work sometimes. They will work for 2-3 weeks, then nothing for a few more. Also, the range selector in the dash quit working. Any ideas? Fuses are good.

The prndl probably had the cable knocked off, or the cable broke. It just like a piece of fishing line with a loop on ome end where it attaches to the shifter. As far as the back up lights, when they are not working, check power to the socket, chances are the connector under the bed got corroded or something stupid like that.

Where do they break? Shifter side under dash or transmission side?

The prndl cable only goes from the shifter to the indicator in the dash. It can break either places. Prndls are fairly cheap, like around $50-60. May just pick one up and put it in to fix that. That should have no effect on your back up lamps though.
