2009 International 4400

A freind of mine is in the tow business and is looking at a new to him tow truck. He found a good deal on a 2009 International 4400 with Maxx Force DT with an allison auto.

Does anybody have any personal experience with this particular engine and trans setup? Reliability? Power? Mileage?

I know most trucks have some issues but a catastrophic failure could be detrimental to his business.

I know the otr larger bore maxx force engines had a ton of issues but I haven't seen much info on the smaller engines. Any first hand relative info would be appreciated. Thanks

Would find another motor. The max force in our dump truck had to be rebuilt at 138k. Talking to the mechanic he said it is common for them. Also it has no balls

I had a service truck with a Maxxforce, the newer Dt466, and god it was unbelievably slow. Truck wouldn't get out of it's own way.
