Does anyone know what controls turbo boost? Sometimes when I full throttle I get more boost than other times. If I shut the truck off at a light and back on its runs with alot of boost. I can't figure it out . Also getting a loud whooshing noise. Thanks.

The VGT solenoid controls the turbine side which in turn effects the boost.

It sounds like you’ve got a boost leak, with the whooshing noise. I have had several trucks default to 50% vgt due to map/ebp/maf correlation. Is the egr intact? Seen a bunch of block off plates on the exhaust manifold leak and burn holes in the plastic intake. Seen ebp tubes come loose and cause an exhaust leak. Seen blown up pipes, broken manifold studs and warped manifolds, but those tend to squeal. Bottom line is you’re gonna have to look for leaks or take it somewhere and have it diagnosed.
