The 366 is fun but its lazy when pulling my TT.
I even bought the 68/74 exhaust wheel on the 364.5 - I wasn't sure that just the smaller compressor wheel would be enough...
I want this truck to pull trailers, and I'll sacrifice top end for better low and midrange.

I liked the 38r and the 364.5 with the 68/74 exhaust wheel is similar in size, and if the SXE is far superior it should still out perform!
Again my tunes are reserved being I have PMRs so that probably plays in too.

Its tuned to keep the torque limited down low, and the bigger s366 and 35" dont help!

I think the standard 364.5 would’ve done you fine. My BASB is a tow beast with 180/80’s and the 364.5 SXE is supposed to be superior to it. When I have the time and money, I’m gonna make the switch.
Which injectors are you running?

Truck ran awesome with the 38r so this should be great!

I had a 38r before the BASB on my truck and the BASB was an incredible upgrade in street performance as well as towing. But ESPECIALLY towing.
My plan is to go 238/80’s when my 180’s get tired.

I honestly can’t remember, it was top secret information. I can’t remember what the finale specs were. I just know it works for what it was meant for lol.

Im pretty sure I read a post somewhere that stated it was a 68 turbine
I read a few threads last night and they all are running together now...

its basically a 364 with a 1.10... its sitting here in the shop i cant remember off the top of my head anymore.

the sxe lineup worked better in everyway in our testing so far.

And that’s why I’m strongly considering the 364.5 to replace my BASB. Worth the cost for a bolt on 50hp and 125tq

Are 250/100’s going to make the 369 spool quicker than the smaller injectors being tested here? I’m hoping so. I’m also going to be using the Irate manual shift box so I can unlock the converter easily when towing and under the turbo. Thoughts?

IMO the debate would be weather bigger nozzles really spool turbos faster... because body size has NOTHING to do with spool up. Body size is simply the maximum amount of fuel you will dump at WOT on a max effort tune.

In our testing so far... smaller nozzles tend to spool the turbos a little faster. Now I know some people have spent countless hours live tuning bigger nozzles and claim they spool faster with cooler egts according to their "butt dyno". But that has not been our experience while working with some of the best tuners on the market sending "email tunes" and testing back to back on our dyno.


I also know some guys who have replaced 200,000 mile old stock tired injectors and went with larger injectors and spooled way faster... but that is kind of apples and oranges

Will be finally getting the tow truck on the dyno with 238cc/80s and the s364.5, it has been running the setup for the past 4-5 months. Excited to get a s366 /s369 on it with the 238s/80s compared to the 205/30s.

Did you do tests with the 205s and the 366?

We did not do the s366 with 205/30... customer jumped up to the 369 because that is what everyone "swears by", saying it tows amazing and is the perfect setup. NOT TRUE FOR HIM. That is why he dropped back down to an s364.5

The 238/80 and s364.5 truck is a little smokier and harder to tow with, he had to be much more careful with EGTs and throttle position with towing, but did have more towing power over the 205/30 but had to be more careful with it. That was after many email tune revisions. We were luck enough to have Andrew Arthur (the best kept secret in 7.3 tuning). He was able to live tune the truck and pull a lot of fuel out of it and got it to run much cleaner... but did lose a little power.


We do have a dyno graph from before the live tuning. Here is an all out race tune vs tow tune with 238/80 and s364.5

Am I the only one who hopes kc turbos creates their own thread or web page with a bunch of dyno sheets they've collected. Looking at dyno graphs from everything from stage 1.5 to 300/200 has been extremely helpful.

Am I the only one who hopes kc turbos creates their own thread or web page with a bunch of dyno sheets they've collected. Looking at dyno graphs from everything from stage 1.5 to 300/200 has been extremely helpful.

We have thought about trying to make some sort of interactive graph/app/web page where you can select each setup we have ran and overly them.

Its easy for me to do from my computer, then screen shot, then post the pic online... but it literally turns into 1000s of options.


I live for this stuff... main thing I love about my job is learning all the differences between setups and turbos. It really helps us to provide a better service to our customers when it comes to get them exactly what they want/need.
