4R100's when built are really stout and will hold lots of HP. Only down fall is that it'll need a stand alone PCS controller.

Why not build the 5r?

Like strokin6L said they can hold the power, not saying the 5r can't but from what I have read, in high HP applications the 5r computer can't shift fast enough and seem to be more reliable. Another reason I went with the 4r is because eventually I may end up doing a 5.9 Cr swap so it's best to already have the 4r, I'm not dead set on the 5.9 but it is always an option. I have been very pleased with what the 6.0 has done already on the small amount of mods it has so who knows it may be what stays in the truck.

It's been a while since I have updated this thread but it's gonna be soon to start another, Friday evening with the help of the guys at TSD they installed a VGT-ss on the truck for temporary use. The stocker is fine just wanted to see what the Vgt-ss would do. We dynoed the truck before and after turbo swap. With stocker fuel run was 495 and nitrous was 664, with just doing the turbo swap and no tune change it did 564 on fuel and 703 on spray. Chris is gonna tweak the tune a little to see what else he can pull out of it, also I will be ordering a BTS 4r100 on Friday so this thread will no longer be accurate . Air puppy is also gonna be installed with trans. If I am able to get new numbers with the turbo I will be sure and update y'all.

After 30+ passes at the track, at least half of which were with nitrous, 15+ dyno runs, countless burnouts, 42k miles(since I bought it), 20k miles with 225's and nitrous, 704hp dyno run, best passes at the track were 12.7@106 fuel, and 12.2@112 on spray. the stock transmission is on its way out the door. How it lasted so long is a mystery to me but I'm pretty sure it's the tuning that kept it alive for so long. So long 5r110........ Hello BTS 4r100.

Your 5R was a freak tranny for sure Mike! What were you doing when it decided to finally quit?

Yea it was! Lasted longer than i would have ever imagined, Chandler thought he was cursing me by writing "buh bye" on the trans the week before i took it to ennis for the first runs but who would have thought that he actually blessed it lol........Nothing, driving down 1604 cruising at about 70 when it sees about 10lbs of boost it either lets go of the gear completly and/or unlocks the TC. I'm still driving the truck but every now and then when I come to a stop it seems like it wants to shift through the gears real quick plus it's no fun bc the tc unlocks under a load
