I like this....

clear recon led brake light...bright as ***k...looks BA in person. The pictures dont do it justice.

I dont want anybody to take this the wrong way but those ebay lights look cool until somebody with recons pulls up next to them. Same goes for the 07 style headlights. Chrome or harley. The real thing just looks sooo much better. Thats why they cost $300 per set for chrome oem headlights.

What is the difference in the ebay and the recon third brake light? The LED's that much better or ?

I paid 150 shipped for the 3rd brakelight, the clear cab lights, five white recon led's. That works out to 70 bucks shipped for the recon. I had an ebay one to compare it to, and the recon is wayyyyy brighter. The plastic is different. The screw holes arent dimpled/dished(which looks like ass in the dark, imo). The devil is in the details.

I tried to take a picture about ten minutes ago but the light emitted from the recon fixture is washing the lens on my phone camera with so much light its just blurry red light. Ill get a pic in the daylight tomorrow.

@agjake-they make a recon light thats red/clear. Fyi.

Idk, I dont like the prices on some of the led stuff but the recon stuff looks better and is brighter in my experience. If I didnt get recon stuff I would have got new stock and painted it how I want.

Like I said guys, Im not putting anybodies choices on trial here. If you got some ebay lights and like them, great. If you're pickier, dont bother. You'll be disappointed. I would have been myself. I looked at a friends ebay headlights, third br light, and taillights and they were on a 99 superduty so the comparison was easy to make. I was psyched to see them so I could hurry up and order the stuff of ebay for under $100. I wound up not ordering anything off of ebay. Had I bought just based off the ebay ad pics, I would have been disappointed.

I have heard that recon led's arent lasting like they should but I dont know anything about that other than I heard it on here

Personally I wouldn't go recon I just know too many people who are very disappointed in them. I think they have a quality control issue. I agree the ebay stuff can be total crap, I would use the the OEM Ranger unit.

You physically know people? Cuz Ive heard that same thing but I cant see any basis to it. At least in my own experience. Older farmer has an 08 with all three brakelights recon, mirror lenses, and cab lights. He's got some other shti too. His truck strobes for plowing. Thats as much as I know. I did ask him if he had any trouble with led's burning out and he said he's had NO failures in three years.

Bottom line is Ive heard that recon **** burns out but havent witnessed it firsthand or secondhand from anybody that I know who runs it. Everybody I know that has it likes the recon stuff.

I agree with using oem parts if suitable aftermarket ones arent available.

Tycorr reckons site doesn't list a red/clear one. If you find one let me know

I wouldn't mind paying more for quality but I have had some good eBay lights before with little to no issues. I would either like to get a eBay one and have center candied to be the colors I want or bake a cleaner oem one and an eBay one and put the oem lens on the eBay led setup to achieve what I'm going for.

Yeah, 3 good friends of mine have had problems, 2 Super Duties and a Dodge. One guy spent a ton and bought nearly everything he could form them and most were replaced just over a year later. It seems as thoug hsome have good luck others not so much when it comes to Recon products. Like I said earlyer, it seem like a quality control issue.

just use your old light, take it and use a buffer to restore its shine, tape it off the clear and then spray some VHT on them and then clear coat them.. thats how i did my tails and a few other sets

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I have some Retro cargo lights, but wanted to replace the lens before putting them in. What did you use to buff/clear up the cover? I have some Flitz I can try, but didn't know if there was anything better??

Do they look different from the older ones

Yes. The coloring is the same with the red in the middle but if you look at it from the side it is clear all the way across. Kind of hard to explain. Instead of it looking like three totally different sections, it's one solid clear section across the whole light while still having the red in the middle under the clear.

When I ordered my 3rd brake light with my tail lights I had them look everything up for a 2011. When the third brake light arrived, it was the same as my old one. When I called to ask what was up, they said that was the part number for the 2011, so idk if you can find the 2011 one new.

I like the older style better because it looks like when the new style gets old, the whole thing is going to start turning that cloudy yellow color.
