Both have a .71 final drive ratio...

I saw that post too and was like wtf is he talking about.? The torqshift just has an extra intemediate gear to keep the 6.0l in its powerband during acceleration. I like the way the 6L/5R shifts on a stock truck with some tuning added. Ive never seen a 6L with injs or turbos added.

I kinda wanna put 4.10's in my truck just to see if they are THEEE perfect gear for a lifted SD. Especially on 37's. Id select them anyway because I plan to run a 35x13.5/20 and want some of the lowend back. Ive ran 37+ for so long with 3.73s that I dont remember what that stock truck takeoff feels like.

I know what it feels like in a 12 dmax and its pretty great feeling having decent power and smaller tires.

That comment through me for a loop to..

For 37 and good gear tourque 4.30 would feel good.. Then for a lower RPM an the highway put a Gearvenders overdrive on it...

Post up and let us know how they are after you get them in. I am in the same boat on what gears to put in my truck.

Might as well swap to a 5r and change the final drive to .65..

Jus playin....

I think that gv overdrive is pretty gdodmnaed expensive just to gain a couple mpgs.

Yeah it is.

But, its about the only way I know to keep the stock-feel low end grunt and be able to cruise 80mph at a decent rpm while running 37s.

I'm not saying I would go this route...I'm too cheap....but it's the only way I can think of not to sacrafice one or the other.

Im not sure of the specific rpm but I think that the cruising rpm at 80 w/3.73's is loafish. The 4.10's would be just about right, imo. High enough in rpm that the truck isnt going to shift in and out of od but it wont be running 2500rpms either. 4.30s would be great for mash n go driving.

I would skip 4.30's... but what do I know, only driven this combo for 250k...

3.73's was perfect for everything but stop and go town traffic, even then it was fine, but thats the only time I "enjoy" the 4.30's more.

I agree.... BUT the OP said he puts on 400 some mile per tank just in town driving...

But if you have money blow.. do 4.30 then put a GV on there.. you would have the best of both worlds..

If you're being serious, would you say 4.10's would be a good compromise? What dont you like about the 4.30's?

I would say the 4.10's would be perfect for all around driving.

The 3.73's were perfect for everything but around town driving when pulling.

The 4.30's are fun around town, but who wants to listen to this thing spin 2200-2400 RPM's for hours on end at 70-80mph.

Yea. I could completely see your point. Im reluctant to even do the 4.10's since im toying with the idea of running 35x13.50s. I dont really even mind the way my truck accelerates with the 373s. Boy I bet those gears you have are nice when you need to get a 15k # loaded trailer movin!
