Hey guys,

So, I'm a die hard 7.3 guy as is the rest of my family. My cousin just found a SMOKIN deal on a 2005 F250 CCSB. Low miles, never any problems. Have the full dealer history. Still under factory warranty. (For another month or so).

All I really know about the 6.0 is what I've read in the media and what I've "heard" online. Lawsuits, failures, piece of garbage etc.

So, I know there are a ton of guys that run them and love them. What would I need to fix the day we bring this truck home? What are the weak points and can they be strengthened to build a reliable motor?

The only repairs on warranty have been 3 injectors in the last little while. Its completely stock. 72,000 miles. Beautiful shape.

I don't have a ton of time to research this one so if you guys could help a fellow army brat out, that would be great! Thanks!

My step dad's 04 6.0 has been great. I would go for it if the price is right. Delete the egr, add a coolant filter and don't look back. I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up.

Theres 2 types of six liters. 1 can be fixed one can be burned. @ 72k if the oasis is clean then ita a type one. Buy it up and youll forget what a 7.3 was.

We talked to our friend that's the parts manager at Ford and he looked up the truck. He never used the word "Oasis" but he said it was any repairs that Ford had done to it.

All the work has been done here at our local dealership.

It's hard 'cause of all the 6.0 stories. I told him to buy it and plan to spend a couple grand getting the EGR and all the rest done.

So, just to confirm... I need these things to make a reliable truck...

Any idea why 3 injectors would have failed in 72,000 miles? That doesn't seem normal.

Sinister EGR Delete & Studs FTW

Truck will be pretty much bulletproof at that point

Negative!

Well of course there's other problems that can happen, but the EGR delete and studs are some of the best preventative measures you can take.

Then lets not say it will be bulletproof. That's a little misleading.

You are splitting hairs

you should be much better off once the studs and egr delete are in place.

Anything can go wrong on anything at anytime
