Buddy's got a 03 , I helped him with doing the teardown and we went to the block ( cab on) then did gaskets, studs, he did the deletes and installed new 190? Injectors I think they were , I was gone for most of the assembly after tq the studs. He got er together, cranked A LOT . Probably 5-10 minutes a night( till the batteries died ) with it plugged in and a charger hooked up . This went on for probably 3-4 nights it started sputtering and trying to take off the last night, he disconnectd the gp and gave her a sniff of either ans she started. Runs smooth but there is a popping through the intake, its not a sharp knock more of a thud like sound... My only guess is bent valve/ push rod... Said autoenginuity showed everything was normal any ideas

Edit: feel free to move this if this is not the appropriate section

Is the sound coming through the intake or exhaust? Either way, I'd be yarding those valve covers off and double checking everything.

Yikes. Well start with checking under the VC's. Could also be a dead lifter but I don't think that's a common problem on the 6.0L

That's gonna cause more issues than a pop in the intake. You'd have a contribution code to go along with that as well, I would think

Bent pushrod or valve bridge isn't on all the way. Have had both happen to me when reassembling a 6.0. That's my guesses

from the video i saw its probably from unburnt fuel going into the exhaust and then somewhat burning there, it would help to know what the smoke smells like.

Push rod or rocker is my guess.

Does it start better now that it has been running once?

Smoke could be residual oil from the swap as well. Pretty common. Smell would help. Let us know if it burns your eyes lol

Thats probably normal with all the air in the system. As long as its starting on its own without ether thats good.

Pull that valve cover asap and let us know

It is raw fuel. Not sure if getting the air out of The system would cause piss poor injection, maybe the fuel was just dribbling out of the injector so it wasn't getting a good burn?
