If the 6.4 is deleted I would assume it would be easier on oil than a 7.3 since fuel dilution wouldn't be a problem?

I changed to Mobil 1 turbo diesel this oil change and I am going to probably take it to 10k. I was doing rotella 15w-40 every 5k and fuel every 10k. I know of plenty of people running 10-15k oil changes on HPOP trucks and other common rails on conventional oil, not even running full syn. I know this is a little different as there is more oil, but we change the oil in the Pete's every 18k, some we let go to 24k, and some even go 30k if we happen to be out of oil when it comes in and it is turning, but this is all on Rotella 15w-40 with some trucks over 2 million miles. One guy takes the oil that has been run and puts it in his 7.3 when he changes the oil instead of buying oil without ever a problem in his truck

Taking the used oil out and putting into another truck....thats a bit ridiculous

Your fuel filters are dirty because there is junk in your tank. I would remove your tank and flush it using simple green or Castrol Super Cleaner. Wash it out real good with fresh water dry it and install it back in the truck. Change filters and find a better place to get fuel from. If your filters are that dirty that quick then the fuel you are buying is bad. My filters could go 30,000 miles and never look that bad.

You would just have to know the guy. He is a character. Old Vietnam vet but he does make the day go by faster. He's a dang good mechanic and can near about fix anything, a lot of times the DOT frowns on his ways of fixing things though LOL. Another thing he does is when you change the two fuel filters on the semi's. You have quite a bit of fuel in them, he pours every bit of it into a 5 gallon bucket or whatever he can find and puts in in his truck. He will also run it in his truck if its bad fuel we are pulling out of a tank, he will just dilute it with good fuel. Although I would never do these things, I am pretty sure he has over 250k on his truck and it still runs like a champ

Oil 5k - 7.5k KM usually, filters every second oil change. UOA always showing TBN remaining, less wear and oil can still go further but I don't push it.
