I don't care what you think, you have a GTR lol :flipa:
Lol that I do it dosnt run tho I can say that. Haha
My vote would be for a non-vgt.So I need your guy's opinion / input.
I'll be doing "stuff and things" to the truck here in about 2,000 miles and I'm torn right now between doing a small modded drop in VGT (63-66mm) and a 10mm exergy CP4 with a piping kit. Turbo would probably be a Fleece Unit or a Taterbilt unit.
OR
Doing some kind of small-mid sized Non VGT (64-68mm) that utilizes a ball bearing charger, probably a Precision Turbo unit. It also would be fueled by an exergy 10mm CP4.
I've always heard how well the 6.7s spool Non VGT's because these motor and heads flow so much more air than the older PSD motor's did...Pete's old 6.7 with the Elite Non VGT with a PTE 6870 drove so good, it's hard not to want a setup similar to that.
H&S single non vgt kit can be made to work with a precision 6466 or 6870. The MPD budget kit's are utilizing precision turbos now and that option should be available in the next month or two is what I'm hearing.
Obviously VGT will spool a bit faster....retains stock parts, drop in is simple and I retain my exhaust brake. I just REALLY hate how VGT's sound.
Non VGT is more reliable, they sound Amazing on 6.7's, power is much better in the mid & high RPM's, they dont dont fall off on the high end like a lot of VGT setups do. Less EBP, better EGT temps, however I sacrifice my EB and some spool.
Biggest catch is cost. The setup I'm looking for with a Non VGT will probably cost me 2500-3000 more than a simple drop in VGT. I tow some, mostly during spring and summer, about 10-15 decent weighted (10-15k usually, maybe once or twice 20k+) loads, but never more than 3-4 hours away max.
I drive my truck every day, I haul some heavy stuff for work in the bed every now and then too.
So blast away your thoughts peeps. Or just call me stupid, that's OK too, I'll take it lol.

I’ve only been around a couple non-vgt 6.7’s, and haven’t towed with one, but I have owned, driven, and towed with multiple non-vgt 6.0’s.
My current tow rig is an 06 F450, 4.30 gears, 245/70-19.5’s (33”tall), 155/stock injectors, SXE 362/68/.83 on an Irate T-4, CSF 6013 intercooler, stock cam, stock intake manifold, and of course the normal *********, headstuds, and oringed heads.
I tow heavy with this thing. 30,000-45,000 lbs gross, and having had the stock 06 turbo, stock 03 turbo, and now the 362, with no other changes but turbos, and the necessary tuning changes for non-vgt, there is no way in the world I’d go back to a vgt.
With more cubic inches, more fuel, better heads and intakes, 1 more gear, better control of the trans, and no more weight than you tow, I think you’d love a properly sized non-vgt.
ya not everyone runs 4:30s haha
Being ball bearing and a smaller compressor & turbine then my sxe, it should spool/run great. Mine drives awesome. Sure power comes in a little later then the vgt, but it's so linear and smooth.
Have you decided on who going to do your tuning ? That will be a big factor in how much you enjoy a non vgt setup
I'm kickin myself for buying the sct now because tyrant is about my only option. It does run really clean and smooth, I just like trying other people's tuning styles to see what I like best. Really would like to try tsd myself.
Regarding your cost concern, did you ever care much about cost on modding your 6.4 ? You're gonna be coming up on $80k+ on this truck too so what difference is 82k vs 85k ? (Numbers just an example, actual will obviously vary)
I was gonna keep mine simple but after driving my 6.0 this thing just don't have the power it needs. Some point this year I'm either going to have h&s do something just like Mike's 13 or maybe just compounds and 100% injectors
Did Pete's tuck have a cam and/or ported heads ? He had 15% injectors right ?
Well decided on 4800# front coils. Think I made the right choice. So far it's about an 1.25" drop. I figured it will settle another 1/4" probably. Rides way better. Gained some rear rake again which makes me happy. Had to trim front bump stops down as well. Took 1.25" out for now.
Got some shots of it next to this stock height silver 17 Platinum truck. It's actually Drew from D&Js truck.

Highest hard point would be the cab lights and I ckear 7'-0" garage openings by a few inches. So I would say top of those is 69-70" while on stock size tiresDo you know what the height of the truck is at now at its highest point?

Hold on. I think i f*ucked up my math really bad. I replied to your comment when I was half asleep last night.Really that low??? I was worried I’d have to go down to 4400 springs and remove rear block completely. Ideally I need to be at 80” max.
Thanks for the info! Very clean truck btw :ford:

Just went out and measured, between 77-78" to the top of my cab lights. It's hard to get an exact measurement but it's somewhere in there. When I go to 33x12.50 tires I'll lose some height there as well.
