So this kit uses no wastegates? With a quick spooling twin kit I would figure that cylinder pressure would ramp up extremely fast with low end rpm and peak torque ultimately causing the failure.

U r correct but from what he says it definitely has the potential

The block or injectors maybe... Have you seen the shaft speeds on a stock turbo even in a tuned truck? That charger is on borrowed time in a hot tuned truck let alone something with more fuel... And we've established that fuel isn't there. What potential do you mean?

I assume so and I'd probably lean on it being a contributor here among other things. Industrial doesn't use waste gates in their setup. I've heard nothing but horror stories of compound setups on these things utilizing the factory turbo with no gating. It will not last. Im not really sure how they setup stages honestly with the way that compressor wheel(s) works either.

Chris said it very well, and it confirms my feelings that with possibly some seat time on the setup by a tuner, this might not be a very common occurrence

The factory turbo is waste gated, or are you talking about the LP turbo not being gated?

I don't feel the factory gate is adequate enough to keep things in check. Industrials kit uses a k31 atmosphere turbo which is a 71mm wheel, IIRC. Whether it needs a gate or not, I can't say

I don't want to stir the pot, but I feel a bit like this truck could have been a time bomb regardless of any additional aftermarket pieces. Driving habits and other factors could come into play as well.
Let's not forget that ford set the land speed record in a 6.7 pushing north of 600hp on a stock long block with proper fuel mods and turbo upgrades, and of course tuning. Publicity stunt or not, I think these 6.7s will be potent when modded and tuned properly.
Just my 2.

Is there any proof of that kinda power level?

Not meaning to derail- but want to back up my statement with an article.

PickupTrucks.com 250 Land Speed Article

Quote out of the article:
"... To improve fuel flow, changes were made to the high-pressure fuel pump, fuel injectors and turbochargers. The compression ratio was increased, too, along with a new rear differential, according to Henry Platts, Ford SVT spokesman.
All the changes boosted the engine’s output by 50 percent over production, said Paul Niessen, Ford's powertrain engineer."

Simple math says 50% over stock equates to roughly 600hp considering stock form is 400.
I want to know more about this truck and how it's doing now. I'm all about reliability.
They should do a tear down like what they did with the EcoBoosts.

It was at the Enid farm show a few weeks ago and they fired it up so it's running they are out of Oklahoma city.

A buddy of mine went to that and he called me when I was in okc and told me it was there and I was driving through kingfisher when he called and said they was shutting the show down. I was so pissed. But the company that built it is Hajek motorsports out of Ames, OK over by okeene.

No. I have it on good word that they weren't making 600hp at the wheels. They were running into the same issues as everyone else.

Nate, don't take it like I'm trying to dog the 6.7... I have spent a lot of time studying the books and layouts for some time now and I'm excited for the new engine to make some positive progress BUT things like this can deteriorate enthusiasm when they let go sub-550hp with just bolt on's. I honestly don't foresee this platform following the footsteps of its 6.4 counterpart when it comes to bolt and go performance. Atleast not right now

Definitely not taking it that way bud!
I'd have to agree with you though- even 600 crank means its 525rwhp max if anything.

Time will tell. I just hope that this doesn't become a habit for these 6.7s to self destruct. I know it's why I'm holding off on more aggressive power mods until these woes are sought through.
