Check out the AFE big boost on RiffRaff's site.
no. *** no..
Yea man I have, i might source one from somewhere else though, I really can't bring myself to drop $20+ on shipping unless I really have too.

01 7.3 F250
4" Diamond Eye exhaust
"Tymar" Intake
EGT, Trans Temp, Boost
please stick with the 6637
For a daily, the 6637 style filter is the way to go. After buying the kits from tymar, ran one for years on the OBS trucks.
why not in every aspect? swamps has done well over 800hp on their dyno with a 7.3 and a 6637... prolly a donaldson filter but still... if that aint enough then stuff a 2790 filter in there..

The cotton/foam filter elements do not last forever, two- three washings and the K&Ns get very porous.

A Donaldson B08511 is not a NAPA 6637.

Heres a Donaldson B08511 (free shipping) after a quick search on ebay:

So riffraff sells just the cheapo 6637?
I mean I know they have it advertised as such, but didn't know if that was a marketing thing, since everyone knows of it as a 6637.
Be awhile before I need one, but I bookmarked the Amazon one.

Just buy this. Free shipping and after replacing your 6637 twice you'll thank me. I put one on my shorty last march and have cleaned it twice already and looks like new. From what i've read it flows way more than anyone will need and looks better than the 6637.

Ive had 4 7.3 trucks and always run the WIX or NAPA but even with a prefilter comes a time when you have to buy a new one and I always cringe throwing away a 37$ filter.

I've been running a K&N open air filter for years on my OBS. I first started with a stock replacement K&N in the original air box. Then I looked in the K&N's catalog for a generic open air filter way before TYMAR even existed with their "6637" filter kit. I've been running the K&N filter for over 200k and not one dusted turbo. I have sent oil samples in and silicon was non-existant.

The issue arose when guys were using the K&N filters in the stock air boxes (OBS) without putting grease the filter edges. Plus, there was a recall on OBS air box plastic bolts back in the day.

I have since switched over to a AFE filter when the K&N served it's use. I like the blue filter oil that's available with the AFE filter.

When I bought my Banks Power Pack, the Banks sales agent told me the "million mile" K&N (as advertised by K&N) included in the PowerPack was only good for 2-3 washings before getting porous.

I checked the drop-in K&N against the Tymar with the Donaldson and the 0-60mph results with the Tymar was 0.25 seconds faster with stock injectors using a G-meter to figure the times.

Later, I dynoed the Tymar against a AFEI and the Tymar produced 3-5 hp more across the entire power band using stageII injectors. Same dyno, same day.

I also tried a couple of other intakes with similar results.

I also did a dyno run after 25kmiles of use including an extremely dusty week of road hunting in the Sierra Nevada range with no power loss. I usually did a dyno prerun maintenance check list that included changing the filter. I forgot to do this that time.

Maybe one of these days I'll get around to checking how that new AFE intake I have in the box compares to old Dale Isley's setup. But then Donaldson also sells a 10" diameter filter similar to the 8" B080511.:D
