Decisions.....

- 67 GTO (real GTO VIN) 64000 miles
- Runs great , drives great
- 455 (rebuilt 5000 ago - 10 years)
- Turbo 400 rebuilt same time
- Complete original very nice black interior
- His/hers shifter
- factory air (needs compressor +)
- Power steering / brakes
- no rust (verifying)
- know everything about car for 35 years (close relative has it)
- newer top
- doors perfectly aligned
- Has pretty much every option
- with just cleaning up the paint it would look and drive great
- Gets driven every two weeks

Cons
- not a numbers car, has a 400 that needs a rebuild but isn't numbered either
- was built from two (or three) wrecked cars (owner worked in wrecking yard) so has the best from all them everything is there and straight
- paint clear coat is flaking but in good shape otherwise painted (20yrs ago)
- trunk/hood hinges need replacing and alignment
- needs probably all new bushings (suspension/ body)
- needs A/C parts under the hood, has all interior parts

$12,000 Is about what I can get it for

I really liked the '67 and before GTO over the Chevelle style GTO. Like the
large trunk look over the short trunk. Mustangs just don't look right to me either.

My aunt had a Chevelle and it was really fun. Also had more features. It had a cramped
rear seat where the older style has more room.

All comes to personal preference

My dad had a 65 goat 389 tri power #'s matching 4sp. One day I hope to find something close and restored, and give it to him.

If I had the money I would buy it. Especially if I had a huge shop to park it and work on it. I wouldn't buy it to try and fix up and flip. Being its not a numbers matching car it will never bring in top dollar. I would fix the paint and drive that sucker. My dad has a 70 gto that will be mine someday. We have done a lot over work to it over the years. The 455 can be a monster if you decide to build it a little bit.

If you do buy it and it has over heating issues let me know. Its a common problem but a rather easy fix. We didn't figure it out until after buying a larger radiator and adding a pusher fan. It would still run hot. After a water pump mod the car never gets over 185 even on the hottest days.

I think I found it, shaping the water pump spacer to be very close to the impeller for
better efficiency.

Yes, exactly. The water pump impeller is not shaped correctly. Its too far away from the housing too move any water. My dad just bent the impeller fins to be closer to the housing and wahlah it moves water. I can get more details from my dad if you need me to. No aftermarket water pump corrects this issue that we have found.

I hope you buy the car. I love that body style.

My buddy had a 66 tempest ( poor man's gto) in school and man I loved that car. Speedo would stop at 115 up hill or down so who knows what it would actually do but we thought it was a rocket. I'm a Ford guy but those are some sharp cars.
