Could be an upgrade maybe. It don't have to be broke to replace it.
..just assumed the "buddy short on money" deal meant he was trying a repair...but maybe short on money was just referring to the labor...no idea.

Imagine that. Maybe you shoulda listened to golfer
We replace the IPR as well. Won't go over 280psi when cranking.
Look on the bright side, you only have eight things left to check
Those are the eight things that i am refering to. If you had metal shavings in the hpo then you prolly have some hung/damaged injectors too.
Well, seeing as how this is the SuperDuty section, and the title of the thread is '99 HPOP replacement, I would be willing to bet he has Quick connects.
BTW, I took mine off with a big screwdriver.
dare it be asked whyyyy the hpop is being replaced?
from where I sit...the pump either starts the truck or it doesn't...and 99.9% of the time..the pump isn't the problem on a no start..much much more likely to be a faulty IPR or inj o-ring or inj issue if the truck isn't making enough HPOil to fire...
I wish mine had been this easy, I tried EVERYTHING, including the tool from Ford. Finally just unscrewed the the connects and took them about 5 places (Including Ford) with no luck. Everyone thought I was retarded until they tried. FINALLY, one guy popped them right off with a tool from a grinder set. My new lines pop easily, thank God.
This is kind of what I was wondering.
You know Morgan, I certainly could have helped with this issue. I have PLENTY of (against my will)HPOP and the related experience.
Sorry I didn't have your number, I'm out in magnolia. I sucked 40 cc's of fuel/oil out of 7&8, 10ish out of the rest, and the motor won't turn over when I tapped the starter. Pulling everything back out and turning the motor by hand.

Did you spin it over with the glow plugs out? You can only vac out so much. You can still have enough in there to cause issues unless you spin it with the GP's out.
I am in the process of doing it now. I vacuumed as much as I could, inside and outside of the bowls as best I could, now the glow plugs are out and I'm cranking it with the starter to clear out the rest.
Did you reinstall the injectors first? If you are leaving the the injectors out while "clearing" you are just allowing more into the mix?
