2002 f350 7.3, had the truck running all day yesterday using it for work and it ran fine and started everytime I shut it off. Went to start it up this morning and it wouldn't start just kept cranking. I plugged it in for about an hour and still wouldn't fire. What now? (I also cycled glow plugs multiple times)

Are you getting fuel.
Are you getting a wait to start light. If not, check the fuses. The fuel heater element in the bowl shares a fuse with the IDM or PCM. If it is blown, unplug the heater (only electrical connection on the fuel bowl), replace the fuse and carry on.

I'm getting a wait to start light. How do I tell if I'm getting fuel? I hear it pumping when I turn the key

My batteries are very corroded? Would this have any affect on the truck not to start? If so why would it just start creating a problem now

Open the drain, turn the key. If fuel flows out, fast, you have fuel flow.
If it is a stock 7.3, if you remove the cap, there is a valve it the stand pipe that stops fuel flow. Oops, that valve only works if you remove the filter.

I will try that when I get home. If I have no fuel flow then what I need a new pump?

You say you can hear the pump, so it is working. Check the oil. If these trucks are low on oil, they will not run.

There is an allen head screw on the top of the HPOP reservoir. Remove it, stick a small screwdriver in there. Oil should be within 1/2 inch of the top.

I figured out the problem. Before I had this problem I hooked up my egt gauge and grounded it to the battery. Today I figured I'd disconnect the ground n crank it over n see if it would fire. Thing fired right up! Reconnected the wire and wouldn't start. Anyone know why that is? Where is a good place to ground the wire from the egt gauge?
