99-04 front spring mounts

Getting ready to 4x4 swap my f250 and noticed I have cast iron front spring mounts. My dads 01 super crew f350 has a fabricated steel mount instead that seconds as a frame brace. When did ford change this? Or is it an f250 to 350 difference?

All the front mounts on the leaf sprung Superdutys are steel mounts. Not cast iron. That integrated frame brace is a crash bar. Ford started installing them on the 01 and up model years. If you are doing a 4wd swap on an 01-04 Superduty the front leaf spring mounts are already installed on the 2wd trucks because the brackets are needed for the crash bar. I know this because I just converted my 02 2wd F250 to 4wd. The model year 2000 and older Superdutys don't have a crash bar nor do the 2wd Superdutys model year 2000 and older have the leaf spring mounts already installed. As you can see in the pictures the front mount were already installed on my truck from the factory.

Mines a 99, so no crash bar. Thanks for the info. Parts truck is a 2000 so no bar on it. My dads f350 is an 01 so it all adds up.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'll share with you what I experienced on my 02. Everything bolted on. A 4wd pitman arm is needed as well as 4wd brake lines. Obviously the trackbar bracket is needed but its very important to have the dual speed nut that slides in the access hole in the frame by the drivers side shock mount. 4wd brake brackets that bolt to the frame will be needed. Grind the rivets to remove the coil bucket and you'll have to air hammer out the ones on the bottom of the frame for the bump stops and one of the rivets on the side for the shock mount. Everything else is bolt in once the 2wd items are removed. Since you have a 99 you'll have to source and install the front leaf spring mounts.
Now I only have the 4wd suspension done... Still working on the 4wd transmission part. So far I have gathered I need a 4wd transmission cross member, 4wd driveshaft, and transfer case. I'm going to have my 2wd transmission rebuilt and have the 4wd output shaft installed and swap the tail housing to a 4wd one. I'm using a manual transfercase and will need the manual linkage. At that point it should be complete.

Thanks I’ll be sure to share my experiences too. Luckily I have the entire donor truck.
I’ll be using the selector switch transfer case. My truck at least in the body harness is factory wired for the four wheel drive switch and vacuum solenoid for the hubs under the hood. Selector switch is powered already. Going to swap the gem module out tomorrow and test some things as long as I get time. Donors a 5.4 truck so the trans is going to get tore apart to swap out the the tailshaft

Gem swap successful, at least it thinks it’s a 4wd. Have communication with the new gem, have a bunch of codes since the transfer case isn’t in yet. The ESOF relay pack is attached I the transmission harness so all should be good when I plug in
