if you stay stock, you probably would never notice the difference, if you start adding performance parts, then you would want to install the later, 17 degree hpop. and gpr is glow plug relay. e99's only had a glow plug relay, where the 99.5 and up 7.3's had a grp and an air intake heater. the relays are right next to each other. alot of guys just get rid of them though. i really noticed no difference without the aih

If you have an 02, you might already have a "6.0" intercooler.

Mind you I never compared them side by side, but my 02 had plastic sides from the factory.

I don't see ford doing three different IC's in just a couple years, but I could be wrong.

Also, if it's an E99 the front cover is a little different.

The later model (2002) HPOP gasket will ruin an E99 front cover if you try to bolt the res down on it.

Because if it's an E99, I doubt he'll be happy with the performance of the 15* pump.

Ok so let me get all this straight if its a E99 I leave 02 Harness,IDM,ECM and just drop the E99 motor in (maybe change Coolant Temp Sensor) change intake runners, spider, and Turbo.. Anything I'm missing ?

The motor is the same!! The injectors are smaller splitshots in the e99 trucks. They had diffefent.shti bolted to them but in this case, it doesnt matter.

You pull the motor from the 99. Make it look like this:

Take the 02 motor, make it look like this as well. Then bolt all the things you took off the 02 and bolt it onto the 99 and shove it back in the engine bay.

Dude, stop thinking. You're making this.complicated. Take everything off the 02. Alternators, starter, ps pump if you arent sure of condition and set it aside. The ac and power steering pump on the 02 can be left in the truck. Remove the batteries and lay the ac compressor in the pass.side.and the ps crap in the dr side tray.

You should have a block with a harmonic balancer and valvecovers on it. Nothing else. In fact strip both motors. Then bolt all your **** from the 02 on the 99.

Just look at like this you are stripping your old, 02 pmr motor down all the way. Then pretend you were to reverse those steps except sub the 99 block in. The valvecovers, block, and crankshaft pulley dont.care that you are bolting 02 accessories to them. It.simply doesnt matter.

Im gonna have to agree with you. Just jump into it. Theres really not a whole lot into swapping a motor. If you run into any problems, post up on here. But it really is easy, I was installing and or swapping 6.0's and 7.3's by the time i was 16.

Thats it in a nutshell. And youre not gonna be able to get the e99 motor in with the turbo on, so leave the turbo off until motor is installed in the truck.same with pulling your 02 motor, turbo will have to come off before you pull it.

The intake ****, save for the plenums should be removed anyway. Id bolt.the hpop on but the rest of the.bs.can wait to be bolted on.

And??? There is no need to pull hpo res. Cover to change hpop. Ive done it plenty of times without pulling it.

So, because you'd encourage someone to half ass an HPOP install, I should keep my mouth shut about the difference in the front cover?

Because there's no chance that the OP will ever have to replace that gasket, and no chance that installing the gasket for the year of truck that he drives would ruin the E99 front cover?

Maybe, just maybe... He'll remember someone mentioning that, and be saved the pain of pulling the engine to swap front covers?

No, youre fine, was just saying theres no need to pull that cover to swap a hpop. If o.p. wants to pull it, then more power to him. Yes, as we all know, the wrong gasket will ruin a front cover. A buddy of mine did a e99 swap in his 01 and broke his front cover. I believe it was because he wanted to replace the resovoir gasket, but it took a big chunk out of the resovoir. You were right for mentioning this, I am sorry.
