a puking ?

Okay so last week I noticed what appeared to be dried coolant all over the degas bottle and surrounding area. So I cleaned the all the coolant up. I checked today and there has been no new coolant puked anywhere that I can tell.

So my question is do you guys think that it would be okay to do studs one at a time heads on or should I plan on pulling the heads and doing new gaskets? Reason is that I can get access to lift just not really easy and would like to just do the install at my place.

I would do the complete job. Head gaskets and studs. Also have the cylinder heads checked for cracks and decked. Do it the right way from the beginning and not worry about it anymore.

I am no expert, but if you know the HG is fine, some say studs one at a time is OK and others don't, but I have to think if you are not 100% sure the HGs are good, it is probably best to do it all at once...plus that lets you check the head's health (cracks in the head, valves and valve seats, rockers, etc) as well as the pistons and cylinders The one thing you have going for ya for from the 1 at a time perspective is that it will only cost you the stud price to do 1 at a time.

I would never do them one at a time. Pull the heads, have them checked, machined if necessary, and reinstall with studs all together.

If there was no question of a head gasket failure, I see no reason that one stud at a time would hurt it. Its more torque with less stretch on a headgasket thats sealing. If you have access to remove the cab...than do it right and remove the heads.

Seeing as how sometimes factory heads arent even within tight specs when installed with their TTY Bolts.. I would NEVER risk the 1 by 1 method

I chased a weak HG for almost 8 months until it finally got diagnosed and repaired. In my case the dealer could not load the engine up enough to make it puke until I came down with my fifth wheel and made her eat.

Do it all the first time. New HG, checked heads and studs. No sense in having to do it all over again because you thought it would be fine.
