Well, I have coolant In my oil again but no steam out the exhaust pipe or manifolds. Heads were recently magnaflexed and gaskets are new with studs. Injectors have about two years on them. Oil was very gooey at my last oil change and under the valve covers there was a milky residue. Truck got dropped off at the mechanics this morning and they did a look over. PCM is readin the oil at 253 degrees but the oil temp sensor is reading none of that. Mechanic is going to give me a price for a tear down to inspect the heads but I can can do all of that work myself except for having a engine hoist. I’m waiting for the price but anticipate that it’s going to be expensive. What are your thoughts? I could have been driving with coolant in the oil for the last 3000 miles since I replaced the oil cooler and added an oil bypass system. My last oil change showed no signs of coolant

When the reservoir is full, are you getting bubbles in your coolant/is the coolant black like carbon is getting in it?

Why were the heads removed originally? Drain the oil and pressurize the coolant system and checks if any coolant runs out of the pan.
Just FYI, coolant eats the bearing material. Remove the coolant for now and run straight water.

Thanks for the responses. The coolant seemed perfectly fine but the oil not so much. I went ahead and gave the ok for the compression test.

I had the knowledge of doing a compression test then. Anyhow that was two years ago. I did recently replace the oil cooler and add an oil bypass to the oil system.
My compression test from the mechanics shop:
1-360. 2- 400
3-360. 4- 355
5-380. 6- 380
7-380. 8- 400
The shop wants $1800 to remove the heads then inspect. Cost includes new gaskets and reinstall. Torn on what to do.

So the shop is going to give me a price for a reman short block before any more work is done. I asked about a leak down test but don’t remember what the owner said. If that is the end result would a 97 block work with the 95.5 heads if they are still good?

Ah ok, thought it was recent.
I would do what Billy said and pressure test the system with the oil drained. It’s kind of odd that you didn’t see a coolant loss

What do you mean oil filter with hoses T’d off to heater hoses?

go to a different shop. no need to replace the motor or pull heads without proving there is an issue with the heads.
throw that coolant filter away, remove the oil bypass thing.
pressure test, find the coolant leak.

Well spoke with a mechanic friend of mine and he thinks that hitting 30 lbs of boost with my stage 1.5 injectors if too much for a stock motor and that I’m going to need to upgrade to a performance long block if I want to have good life out of a motor. Opinions?

I used to hit 45-50 without studs, of course the headgaskets didn’t last too long
