I just took the filter off to clean it, looked inside the intake tube and it looked like there was dust in the tube. I rubbed my finger against the walls of the tube, and sure enough my finger had dust on it. I thought this filter filtered good? It was a new filter, this is the first time cleaning it, around 8,000 miles on it. I checked all the connections, everything is sealed no ripped boots or anything. Why the heck is there dust in the intake tube?

Tomorrow morning I'd get a few pics. There isn't a lot of dust, but there is some. And anything is too much.

Mine had a little when it was new. Once I cleaned it once and got a few miles on it, it was good to go. I've had mine on for nearly 50K miles now.

This is good to know!! I'm going to clean the tubes up, clean the filter real good, install my new filter cover and put a couple thousand miles on it and pull the filter off again and see what it looks like in there.

This is exactly why, after years of using oiled filters on everything, that I will not use an oiled filter on a turbo diesel, particularly since I live and drive in a high dust environment. And after reading several lengthy, in depth, detailed analysis of filters and flow, I have no confidence the big boost will outflow a Tymar.

I checked on the bottle, doesn't say how much to use. It only says not to over oil. You would think they would say 1 can does 2 cleanings or something along those lines. Thinking of just putting on a 6637 or will the 2790 fit?

Called Napa, price for a 6637 is $35. Going to put that on and see what happens.
Anyone want to buy a used AFE Big Boost filter and a new cleaning kit?:poke:
