Take care of it! Thats the key. My intake is crystal clean (filter to turbo). MAf sensor and other sensor are fine!

I did take care of it, it sucked oil from the filter into the intake tube.. It's common knowlege the stock intake is as good as it's going to get..

I'm just saying my AFE filter in stock box I feel is perfect. I don't have oil and dust residue from it and I know it breaths better. I clean it at every oil change and it takes me atleast 2 hours to do it well. Common knowledge stock intake is best? Yes, I feel that my set-up at least is pretty good for my needs. Protects from engine heat and heated air and with the zoodad mod it's a true CAI. For most people the stock filter works. Other people do need more air though. Saying the stock box provides air for 500 hp, it probably does, but i will still lay down more HP than with my AFE setup over a stock filter. If one is worried about dirty intake filters and such in the first place I feel that one isn't worried about maximum HP. Saying that If your filter gets that dirty from your daily driving then your just not ready for a clean perfect burning engine,

I actually like your idea Garrett. I may give that a try. Its time to change my stock filter anyway. I could slip the AFE in and if I don't like it just go back to stock. Won't be out a ton of money either.

But matt ill say the same to you. Clean it!! So it won't bite you in the ass later. It's a part on the 6.0 so it's gonna take some TLC to get the best out of it.

I personally have a 6.4 but S&B makes a nice unit that i am going to install tomorrow. The guys i deal with highly recommend it,(rudy's) plus it looks cool.(+) Definatley no K&N, i made that mistake for around 80$ but havent run the truck with it on very long. The stock air filters are very restrictive so any aftermarket unit should be better. Im not big on the "cold air induction" units the real ones with the huge air scoop... i live in georgia there is no such thing as "cold air" Ya feel me??

I see you're in Marietta, I'm just west in Dallas and totally understand what you mean about no cold air. I've been looking at the S&B kits as well as the Air Raid, but I like the idea of trying just a replacement element in the stock box first just to see what it'll do for me.

What is "Dougs intake air aid" exactly? And also.. do you have any pictures of your Zoodad mod and the AFE filter element?

None of zoodad yet looks like crap anyway lol

All you do is gut the original filter (take the paper element out of the black plastic case), insert the new element into the gutted plastic case and reassemble the intake into the truck.

I would be a bit carefull with the drop ins as they will suck dirt past the housing and filter. This is the dirt that doesn't even get a chance to go through the filter media. There is a reason why they are glued to the case from factory. Other thing to watch out for is filter collapsing. If there is no cross bar to support the sealing surface they will collaps. 6.4 ones seem to be the worst, take 2 pinky fingers and you can collaps the filter. (don't recall the brand)

Also seen roush (air raid) cold air kits where the plastic warped flat, guessing from over tightening of the worm gear clamp
