Hey Guys,

I saw a picture online of a 6.7 with an Air to Air Front mount intercooler. Has anyone heard of people doing this? Would it be as simple as removing the Air to water unit, connecting the coolant hoses to one another so it continues to circulate as per factory and then building charge piping that would accommodate a front mount unit?

Thanks for the input!

We do them for fun. Developing a billet bracket to eliminate the secondary water pump, but still retain the factory belts. Easiest way is to run 6.0 intercooler and radiator, and make custom piping. We are working on one right now actually. It's a bit of a project, but worth it for higher HP trucks. We never had good luck with factory or factory style intercoolers at 4 digit power levels. The one we ran on our race truck last year was a custom unit we made, but the truck didn't have a radiator so it was way easier.

Is it necessary to remove the secondary water pump and swap the rad, or could one just remove the old cooler, join the hoses with a barbed fitting and install the intercooler in front of the stock rad? Would you be able to send me a price for the plate you are developing?

Yeah let me get some pics. you can keep the Rad and pump in place, but the issue is that the stock rad is so wide, you need a custom IC to make it work and not look like dick. The removal of the pump and **** is mainly cosmetic, but i'm sure some science could be applied to make it sound better than that LOL

Ehh^ yeah sounds like a whore... NL intercooler setup in the future then lol

Been running one of the first No Limit IC to come off the line a couple years ago and its been awesome. Granted I'm not in the 1000 range I can't comment on that but I have zero complaints.

This is the one we are working on now with the 6.0 IC/RAD setup and secondary water pump removal bracket.

So this would have ZERO practical application in an "everyday" truck?

Only beneficial in high hp applications?

I mean I wouldn't know, we have only built them on race trucks. This new setup we will find out what kind of street characteristics this offers. I would imagine day to day driving with this 1k+ hp setup will work awesome. DD/Race truck would not affect the "application" as much as power output. In theory having far less heat soak on a street driven truck or truck that tows a lot, effectively cutting down air temps at the intake manifolds would have great benefits. but that again falls on the truck, conditions, power level, and some other science stuff.
