I've been saying the same thing for a while now about diesels. Look at 70's and 80's gas engines and look where gasoline technology is now. There's gonna be a period of crappy diesels and one day we're gonna recall the good ole days when we had straight pipes as we drive diesels that run reLly clean and have great performance. And its inevitable so im curiius to see where this technology stuff goes.

I think DPF technology will only improve as time goes on.

There has to be an alternative for EGR systems or a way to do away with them. I had a 6.0 it had EGR issues, drive maxxforce DT box trucks t work and theyve had EGR issues, i also drive cummins ISX tractors at work and they have EGR issues. Such a ****ty system. Id like to see major alternatives to EGR systems on diesel engines. So many engine woes are caused by the EGR system

Excuse my ignorance but how would that work on a turbocharged engine?

Just guessing but I would think with a vvt they can control BP to be higher then boost....now that Im thinking about it it has to be anyway for it to work. They are already putting exhaust into the intake(boost) so why wouldnt it work just leaving the exhaust valve open during the begineing of the intake stroke to suck it back in?

My main concern would be the drive gear holding up with an actuator built in as gas engines have some trouble with this.
