Fairly new here on psa, long time lurker. Spend most of my net time on NC4x4, hardline crawlers, and pirate 4x4. Thought I would share a build I'm working on here as I am on NC4x4.

Recently vowed I wouldn't go in debt on another new truck. Decided to build my next work truck. Current truck (bought new, now with 220xxx and second motor) is an 08 cclb dmax dually 4x4, with deletes and a H&S mini maxx. Still with a couple payments to go....

So I bought a steal in an 08 f450 c&c 4x4 basic package with a bare frame, 201k on the ticker and a motor with lifter issues. With my goal being under $20k when completed.... and paid for! Keep in mind this is intended as a work truck, not to race with.

I make my living as a core buyer so I sourced a motor from a customer with 80k miles and fuel issues. This is where the fun began....

New Parts; arp studs, factory head gaskets, oil cooler, hpfp, hfcm, h&s mini maxx, lifters, push rods, rockers, rear main, complete upper gasket kit, fuel lines, rudy's cac tube, boots, water pump, all pulleys, belts, egr deletes with intake tube, delete pipe, rad hoses, glow plugs, rudys hd up pipes, s&b intake, batteries.

Parts rebuilt or reconditioned; injectors, both turbos, heads surfaced and fluxed, valves and springs checked, fuel tank relined, intake manifold steam cleaned, fuel rails cleaned, radiator/core flushed.

I will also be fabricating my own flatbed exclusively designed for my core business. You can check out my rock crawling buggy build on nc4x4 for my fab experience.

On to pics. .. That's what we all want to see anyway

Truck when I brought it home. It would crank and idle but had a terrible lifter chirp.

On to the motor. I tore the new(ish) block down to check the rotating assembly and bottom end. Everything was good and smooth and great cross hatch on all cylinder walls.

Got the heads back and began putting the motor back together.

Got it running about a week ago and everything shakes down great. No leaks, only issue is a bad coolant temp sensor I need to change out. Comparisons to my 08 dmax are impressive; could just be the 4.30 gear and twin turbos that impress me but time will tell once I start hooking it to 26k lb a couple times a week.

On to the flat bed build.

I'm a little further along than this but haven't snapped anymore pics, should be up to date with those tomorrow.

Thanks for the comp.

The bed will be a little unique for how I load and carry different commodities of core parts, but from the outside it should have some style.

Thanks. When you're self employed and spend 60,000 miles a year in it I want to be able to get home lol....

These pics get me current. Picked up the rest of the metal to finish the bed also.

Made some progress this weekend. My good friend jason who is an a/v guru came over and installed keyless entry with power locks, remote start and turbo timer. Also did a heated drivers seat. I managed to get the headache rack further along as well. Also windows tinted last week.
