How many torques can a set of ARP head studs take before they are junk? Have a chance to pick up a set of em for a very good price, but they are currently on their third engine. I know i've read some that 2-3 is the most you wanna work em down, and then some guys say they are good for a couple more.

Depends on how they have been installed and run. Get some monkey yanking them down on a single or double torque pass, they are trash.

I thought ARP's were ARP's? I've never read up on em before. AFAIK i know these are only 1-2 years old. And i'd love to buy new but they aren't going to be in the budget for a while. Whereas i could buy 5 sets of new studs for the price of these...

Id want to know why he's selling them. If you buy these and he runs out and purchases a brand new set then he is someone who is clever enough to sell garbage.

He's parting the truck out completely, scrapping it, and stepping away from 7.3's. Blew up 2 engines and has had issues with the 3rd one now so the truck is done. I just put his injectors in my truck last night. He told me he's not sure if they're any good still, but that if i want em i can have em cheap.

Fwiw I'm fairly sure these were torqued in 3 stages. Franks a good dude and knows his ****. Still don't know if I'd run them. Nothing worse than having to do something twice because you cheeped out.. Especially if you have seasoned gaskets. If my gaskets weren't so fresh I woulda snagged those up.

I think he goes by stroker#66 on here, had Beans tunes which he said were very aggressive. LOL But the truck got raced a bunch and driven hard, stock bottom ends with I think a S468.

I had a set of 175/100%'s, awesome injectors. Sold them and i've now got 250/200% hybrids. I had no plans of going bigger, but the price was right, and i had somebody wanting my injectors so i said *** it and did some swapping. Got my truck running at 10:30 last night.

Ok. I wondered why he put ijlnjectors out of a truck that is falling apart repeatedly in place of his stg 2's?

Oh yeah, Frank's a good guy and knows what he's doing. And thats why i'm trying to do as much research as i can. Last thing i wanna do is tear the truck apart again to do studs, just to turn around and have an issue and pop these 120k mile gaskets.

Which with a stock charger, Matt's tunes, and running it easy i should be fine with stock bolts. I know of a couple trucks running the same injectors, no studs and are just fine.

I blew my hg's stock inj stockish turbo always let my truck up to temperature before getting in it.

$500 is CHEAP insurance. Simple as that.

Even if its not in your budget I'd find a way to get them with those sticks. Do you have a fuel system?

Lifting heads on a 7.3 is a low concern for me at that point. There are other weak spots that will bend you over when you aren't looking. Do I have studs now? Yes. But this is what happened on a stock turbo...

I remember that vid. I should be good, seeing as i have 910's shimmed to somewhere around 130lbs of seat pressure. Although that doesn't mean a stock rod won't bend under those forces.

I think I have a rod knock, Tony thinks it is the b codes and a timing issue. We will see at the race later this month.

I like the 910's. I didn't need to shim them as on the 2 cylinders I was able to test, they were close to 130lbs. Now days...

I got them from Nate or Hotrodtractor years ago. OMG. Talk about a PITA to get setup..
