Axle seal

Anybody had Axle Seal issues? Looked under my truck today and both seals are pushed out.

Ive rarely seen a superduty front axle that doesnt have those pushed out

I heard that is just a dust cover.
Mine look that way as well.

I asked a while back about them, apparently theres an updated seal kit

I'm on my third SD and they all came off/were removed when putting a locker in the front diff. There is an updated seal kit as Jlyl248 mentioned.

that seal appears to be the updated seal ? i can't tell for sure

the old ones like everyone is commenting on sat on the the axle shaft this one insert into the axle tube see pic of My updated style
you can see the clean spot on the shaft where the old seal used to sit

I don't think so, that looks exactly like the ones I did.

Other side of the shaft would be the knuckle seal?

maybe I misstated ?

they sit in the same area as my picture just the old one mounts to the axle and spins with the axle

the new one sits in the tube and the axle spins inside it

His pic may be the older one I can't really make it out ,,

shoot some grease into the unit bearing when you get it all ripped apart

The updated one is metal that gets hammered into the housing. Has a rubber center that the axle spins on

My driver side is like that...it annoys me as well.

got an 01 that has been like that since I bought it and not a problem, been through sand and mud and water and so on and so on, changed the fluid not too long ago still clean, like stated before nothing to worry just looks bad

I installed new ones in mine... 2 months later the boot came off just like that. Everyone we have seen look just like that. Don't sweat it bud.
