backpressure through the ROOF

i was driving to class today and scanned over my gauges and saw my back pressure was at 65 crusing 1/4 throttle.. so i floored it to see if it changed. 85psi!! :jawdrop: :eek: i freaked out. so i babied it to school while it averaged around 60psi. i checked the map, it was fine. truck drives and acts fine, though i realize its too high, truck usually doesnt make 70psi WOT. its idling its at 53-55psi. i was in the 345, so i went down to the 75 tune and its the same. i pulled 2 codes. POO6B-backpressure/map related, and P2563-turbo boost circuit low(that was going on a couple weeks ago, my VGT cycles randomly). what's the thoughts? im thinking the BP sensor or MAP... hopefully one of those. truck is still under warranty-so it'll be making a stop at the stealership in a few days since one of our shop mechanics also is a ford tech.

Pull the MAP out and clean it and pull the BP tube and sensor off and clean them as well. I'm willing to bet there both caked up and not able to get a proper reading. I pulled mine this weekend and they were pretty clogged up with soot and oil residue. AIT sensor was caked up pretty bad too. Clean those may make all the difference in the world.

Mine does the VGT learn bullsh!t also every six months or so.. Blow out your bp tube, that little bastard is a PITA.. One small piece of soot gets in there and all he!! breaks loose..

ok cool deal. thanks eric and shane. ill get to em in a few.

No prob bud, the EBP sensors on the 6.4 go out all the time due to the high BP these motors produce. Cheap easy fix either way, sometimes cleaning them works other times the damage is done and it just needs to be replaced.

Keep the old sensor and your receipt and take the old one to ford in a month and warranty the sensor. Ford has a 1yr 12,000mile warranty on all parts. Then you got a spare.

truck is still under warranty, and our dealership will take my truck tuned. and they are wicked slow now. so ill prob be lazy and just take it in.

Fair enough. It's 2 wrenches and about 20mins to change the sensor bro. I couldn't even bring myself to let ford touch my truck. Just letting everyone know about the warranty

Just use some carb cleaner or brake cleaner/degreaser and some compressed air. If its really bad you may have to swab it with something.

ok so montoring it on a dash daq there is back pressure absoulute and back pressure desired... which one do i read? sorry if its a stupid question..
