I tried searching for this, but cannot seem to narrow it down.
I will be in the market for some 18X9 wheels for my 00 and need some advice.

I want a wheel that will not stick past the fender more than 1", what BS/ offset should I be looking for? There is a ton of options and I want to be sure I get the right wheel.

Pic's are appreciated too.

Thanks!

Hey dave I think your looking for a + offset for sure. My -24's when I had the 20's on a 10 wide stuck out about 1.5-2 inches. With a 0 offset you should be sticking out less than .5 or 1" because mine was on a 10 wide and your going 9" If you can find what your stock offset is this will help a lot http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

as said stick with 0 or positive offset....-10mm max if you wan to keep them within an inch. Biggest issue with posistive offset is tire rub on the leafs at full lock depending on tire height.

Okay, it seems as I need a lesson on backspacing and offset.

Are they not essentially the same thing?

BS is the distance from the inner lip to the mating face of the wheel.

my 20x10 fuels have -24mm offset and around 4.5" BS and stick out 1-1.5"

20x9 with 0 offset will have the same bs and stick out just 1/2in less

Just a thought and not sure how it would work but what about using a 18x9 with 5" backspacing, this should pull the wheel in just a bit more than the usual 4.5" backspacing that people run on the 99-04 trucks.

My wheels are 18x9 with 5" backspacing and with a 35x12.5 tire they stick out about 2"

4.5" backspace would probably be good. You could even get away with 4" backspace most likely. I have a 4.5" backspace on my 10" wide wheels and they stick out some

this is probably because you have an 05+ truck with a wider track to start out with.

i had some 20x9 with + offset and the were almost flush with the fender on mine but on the 06 theyre on now they poke out

Yep 05 ups have wider axle by 1.5 inches on each side I believe. It might be 1 inch though but either way they are wider. the 18x9's are skinnier though then the normal 16x10 and 20 x 10 people run Why no 18x10's I'm not sure. Anyway I would think a 4.5in back space would be perfect since the wheel is an 18x9 and narrower then most. A 5in backspace would probably be perfect for you but if the wheels are only available in 4.5 I would think you would be right in the ball park of what you want with 5in being perfect.

What width are your wheels?

I am considering getting a 20X10 because it seems like there is more wheel options out there in this size.

This is a 20x10 wheel with 4.5" backspace and 305/55/20 tire. The truck is a 2wd, but the back axle should be the same width as 4x4, not sure if the front is or not...

That looks about where I would draw the line. Any rubbing issues?

Looks pretty good!

Thanks! And being 2wd I think its sitting a hair lower but it barely touched the inner fender liner. I just drilled a hole and zip tied through it to pull it back an inch or so and it doesnt rub at all, anywhere.

Stroker2, that looks great!

Dammit, I am so torn on what I should be looking for!

Personally I think the sidewall looks to small on a 20" with a 33"ish tire. But like that I can get them 10" wide. I think I might stick with the 18X9 idea.

Sorry for my indecisiveness, this is my first attempt at adding any bling.....normally I am looking for ways to get rid of it.

Yeah everyone has there own style. I like them because they dont stand out but once you notice them you see there a classic style and a bigger wheel.
