Backup camera in third brake light?

So I've been toying with the idea of adding a back up camera integrated into my third brake light. Wiring it to a toggle, so I can switch between bumper and gooseneck. I like how I can easily backup to a bumper pull, but because of health reasons, it's hard for me to turn my neck and look back, and keep hoping out of the truck to keep looking if it's lined up finally. 13 platnium with the sync system. I'm not worried about camera, wiring, and mounting. Just curious how I can integrate into sync

Probably have to run with a video cable splice somewhere between the third brake light and the sync "brain". I would imagine a toggle switch would do the job being that the camera that is receiving power would obviously be the one sending the signal. It's a pretty good idea though.

you will need to basically have a switch that can interupt one signal and supply another, so a 3 wire switch thats com/ no/ nc

Best place to put that switch is on the tailgate, so when its down it automatically switches to the in bed camera.

I'm working on this right now for my 12 with one in the tool box for the gooseneck and one in the tailgate for bumper pulls. Might even work something for a license plate camera on the back of my camper

Thats a great idea with the switch on the tailgate. Let me know how it all turns out I will most likely want to do this

Hey Dustin, would it be possible to get that in a kit from you? I think it would be kick ass to have

Been waiting for someone to make a kit for a 3rd brake light camera. I think it would be neat to have capabilities of using the camera while driving. I like to make sure what I'm hauling isn't moving around.
