bad ball joint?

Working on fixing it.
with the tire lifted about4"off the ground I put my jack handle (4'long)and lifted the tire.the lower ball joint just bounces around.

You should check your bearings while its apart and replace the races if the bearings are bad, and you'll need an axle dust seal and a hub seal

with it apart it would not be smart to not do top and bottom ball joints on that side at least, you got it apart might as well avoid tearing it back down to do the top later

I've decided since I'm pulling apart the front end I might as well do the wheel bearings.
at this point,who makes the most reliable unit bearing

I have had no issues running the Precision unit bearings from my local Oreilly's. I'm running a heavy 37" tire/wheel combo. They are available local and reasonably priced.

Don't know. I do know the Precision unit bearing has a 3 year warranty and came with new studs. Most unit bearings are 1 year warranty and some don't include studs.

I replaced both my front unit bearings with Precision units. Zero probs. I tow and get off road with a big heavy tire combo.
