IDS is worlds ahead of what snap on has for Fords. You need a decently good laptop to run it correctly though, it's a resource hog.

Also the cost of the VCM, couple grand I believe. I have the wireless one and it's absolutely tits. I can control the trucks outside the bay and watch pids.

Iirc (been a few years since I've played with ids), the vcm is part of the ids. Idk, I remember it plugged in and went along with it somewhere. I think ids is just the software...

VCM is the obd connection. You can get bootleg ones, but I have no experience with them. We always ordered ours from rotunda. I want to say $2500 for the VCM 2. Which is wireless and come with a flight data recorder.

As far as being superior to snap on, hell yes!
