My truck has 300k but the turbo is a used stock turbo with unknown miles. I recently started hearing a turbo noise that is the compressor wheel contacting the housing. What are my options?

-FF 180cc stock nozzle injectors
-Chip, intake, exhaust
- regulated return
-built transmission and tc

Is the housing toast now?

I was looking at the kc rebuild kits. Is this an option still?

I mainly use the truck to tow our 8k lb camper on long cross county trips.

Thanks for the advice.

If your compressor wheel hit the cover, chances are good that replacing is gonna be the cheaper route than rebuilding. You’ll need compressor wheel, may be able to save the cover with some lathe time and a careful hand sanding/cutting, as long as the contact is light, if it’s fairly deep, you’ll need a cover, probably need a backing plate as well, a bearing kit, and possibly turbine stuff as well.

I’d check out our (KC turbos) stage 1 to pair with your injectors. It runs pretty damn good with 180/30, can’t say I’ve ever driven 180/stocks. We have tested it vs a stock turbo, and spool up is damn near the same as stock, but it carries the power out much longer due to its larger size.
