I usually try to never exceed 2000 RPM's so I would say my driving habits are good. And I do know for sure that I have an EGR delete.

Seriously? Why? These trucks like to be worked. I would say driving like that probably leaves you with a better chance of gumming up your turbo vanes. Drive the thing once in a while.

I did one tank full of driving where I tried not going above 10psi and not going above 2000 rpm's. That was the hardest thing to do... with my economy tune in driving like that I got 15.1mpg. I loaded in extreme street from Eric @ Innovative, and drove like an idiot for the next tank and got 15.3mpg. Just saying.

Well... in reference to someone looking for better fuel economy in a truck that has an 8" lift and 38s... Tank has some great advice here: HERE

Because I am still in high school with a part time job. $7.50 an hour 20-30 hours a week will only get you so much fuel. And I don't want to have my truck in the shop. I'm working on getting into the oil field to make more money but as of right now I'd like to be conservative with money.
I recently just ordered a 4" straight pipe turbo back. That is the first of many mods.

Understood, but don't be afraid to drive the thing once in a while, you're going to end up causing more problems.

as far as supporting mods with the tuner, etc
open exhaust if dont have it, at least the cat needs to be gone
you can get by with an SCT not doing anything else but you need to monitor ECT/EOT before oil cooler clogs, leading to a rupture in the EGR cooler, leading to lifting your heads and blowing the gaskets. its a chain reaction for the 'most part' although there have been instances where people say their ECT/EOT deltas were within 5 degrees and blew head gaskets, but those possibly had other issues as well (the gaskets we all know now not to use, heads not flat, etc). Gauges/monitor is the primary mod to go along with a tuner if you dont have the $$$ to just throw studs in at this point as its not cheap. Coolant filter being prob #2 along with an EGR delete. removing some of the beginnings of where it all starts will add some longevity.
but like everyone said, the tune will better supply fuel and if you drive like grandma your mileage will improve, but once feeling that power it becomes VERY difficult to stay out of it

Yes, definitely get gauges. I would recommend doing them BEFORE adding the tuner. It's a good step.
