Best way to get oil out of the cylinders

Ok, Fixing to change my cups and after doing a few sets of injectors I was wondering how everyone goes about removing the oil/fuel from the cylinders. Up until now I've always used a syringe with a piece of tubing. Then crank it without the glowplugs after I can't get anymore with the syringe. This seems like the worse part to me. Basically I was wondering if people have electric or hand pumps that they are using to make this go faster and easier. Thanks

I've always removed the gloplugs and put the vc's back on with one bolt and cranked, never ran into an issue doing it like that.

You definitely want to evacuate most of it with that type of set up. Mityvac makes a fluid evacuator and harbor freight carries one that's air operated. After that remove the plugs and spin over

Mityvac and remove glow plugs. Hold on valve covers with 1 bolt, and crank it over. Then put back together

I pull the glow plugs, bar the motor over with a breaker bar for two revolutions. Put the valve covers on with one bolt and spin it with the starter. Never had an issue. The mighty vac thing just takes to long. IMO

This is what i do.. has worked fine mini mini times..

I work on vehicles by the KISS method. Keep It Simple, Stupid.

These trucks are not rockets going to the moon. (we actually have a lot more computer in our trucks), they are not that complex. Don't try to make them complex.

Diesel motors are a lot more simple than any gas motor can possibly be.

Yes I try to work smarter..not harder...
But it Doesn't always . Work that way lol.. but i try...

Well I for one don't like any amounts of diesel in the crankcase what so ever. So. I'm going to evac as much as possible.

Any time i open a motor up that far i always do an oil change anyway.
I bring it up to temperature. And then change it..

In no way am i saying evacuation is a bad idea..

I use one on the big industrial diesels at work all the time.. have to on them..

Every time I have done them, I use a Mityvac hand pump to clear the cylinders. Then I roll the engine over by hand a couple times with the GP's removed. After that I button everything back up, bump the starter a couple times, and then begin the long crank to build ICP and eventually fire.

the one time I used a vac it got most of it... but then after it was all buttoned up I cranked with a bar just to be sure and sure enough, it locked up..i just kept pressure on it till the oil/fuel pushed passed the rings, but for all the wasted time I will never do that again. glow plugs out, crank by hand twice and then with the starter for 10-15 seconds. not a single issue doing it that way. BE SURE TO REPLACE VC WITH AT LEAST A BOLT ... still have oil all over the walls, and ceiling in one of our shop bays..
