Did you splurge and get the BPD oil cooler? Or go OEM?

Factory this time. If I weren't spending so much money this go round I would have bought there kit but it's going to have to wait until next time. However I do have a customer who may go with their cooler on his truck, he is all about spending money and fixing it the first time in.

I'm 75% through the install of BPD's oil cooler. If the results are as impressive as the kit (and I think they will be), it's well worth the money.

If I weren't spending 4k range Already to do all the necessary fixes I would have done the bpd kit but I just can't justify it at this time. However it's in the future plans. Also you can't beat placing an order online getting a call to verify your order/ parts and a tracking number all within a couple hours

well bummer..... i guess part of the initial miss that the truck had was a hole with low compression... guess my deal wasnt so sweet lol. My ford tech buddy was pretty sure it was an injector issue based on the code and the way the truck acted, and he was probably partially right but oh well. Im going to verify the compression on #1 just for good measure and start shopping for long blocks. The miss is only evident at idle, 1500 rpms and up its nice and smooth. i may even drive this thing until this winter before fixing it. On a good note, im really digging the quiet cab and the ride of this truck. I thought my others rode well, but this one takes the cake. Power wise im also impressed. i loaded up a canned SCT tow tune and have an econo flashed ficm, as a daily driver/ tow pig i think its got more than enough power to do anything i need.

got the cab pulled, head pulled and saw an exhaust valve that didnt look like it was sitting right in the seat. I used shop air and a towel to put some pressure on the exhaust port and that valve was indeed the problem. I am going to go ahead and to pull the other head and have it looked over or replace it while the cab is up. Who or where is a good place to get rebuilt heads ready to drop on? The only reason i am leary of taking them to the local machine shop is that I had issues with them while building my 7.3 stuff. I saw a link for a headsonly.com, has anyone dealt with them? If a sponsor can get me fixed up i will go that route first!

I've heard some decent things about Odessa Cylinder Heads in Clearwater, FL.

There's a guy out my way who does nothing but 6.0 oil coolers, EGR deletes, and head gasket jobs. He said he's been VERY happy with some Chinese made heads (?) I can put you in touch with him if you're interested. He said he actually prefers those over the ones from Odessa, even though the Odessa shop is local.

Yup, that's where I got the ones for our dually from after numerous recommendations of them. Great price too. Free shipping iirc also.

I ended up taking them to the local shop, 1100 bucks to go through them and get them fixed. 4 new valves, all new guides and I believe 4 seats were all messed up and each head was in need of a deck job too. Supposed to have them back late tomorrow or Thursday morning, hope by Friday afternoon it's off the lift and on to our 03 service truck I go.

got her going again friday night. Ive only put 150 miles or so on it and wondering why i didnt upgrade years go. I hate to say it but i really like the 6.0, 5 speed trans and the quietness of the cab. Im just amazed at how this runs with a ficm tune and tow tune on the pcm, it will damn near keep up with my 96 7.3 that had stage 2 injectors and all the supporting mods (425ish hp).

I'm thinking I need my obs back, already stranded 3 hrs from home. Not sure what the problem is, acted like a fuel pressure issue because it would lose power up hills cut out and even miss a bit then when you let out of the throttle it would smooth out and run fine. I pulled off the hwy and when I parked truck was smoking and it had a miss. I limped it to a diesel repair place and the truck had no codes but has an obvious problem. Not a happy camper right now to say the least.
