We are running the DPC in a few trucks without issue. Their warranty is top notch and working with Phil was a cake walk. For your power level I would not hesitate to get a DPC. Suncoast builds quite a TC also, you will find them in a lot of builders top build sheets.

We are also running a john woods in one of our shop trucks, its only making around 575-600, but it shifts flawlessly. It was amazing seeing the tuning differences between johns transmission and Elites. Huge differences in what was needed to make them shift correctly.

Another vote for DPC right here. No issues what-so-ever with mine. I even managed to cut a 1.69 sixty foot on 37's with it.

Was one easier to tune in than the other?

Okay now... I've done some research... Why is it the elite trans cost so much compared to competitors? I'm not trying to start anything here just trying to under stand why they cost so much more than others?

EDE's top unit is more stout than any of their counterparts. Many hours in R&D, and real engineering to fit the most clutch material, and find the best materials.

I gotta agree. Elite's 5r's just flat friggin' work. I would guarantee tadd has more time into a trans build than just about anyone else. He is unbelievably meticulous.

Yup. I've had the pleasure of talking with Tadd about some of the work involved. I don't think there is anybody else I've ever met or even heard of who has more time into r&d than he does. Nothing is over looked

Well looks like I'm gonna have to do something fast!! Tow haul started flashing and throwing codes.. Also acted like it was hunting for gears and wouldn't shift into 5th... Problem is my budget wasn't ready for this yet... May have to skimp on it and throw a stage 2 in of just buy the parts and have a local install do it...

If you do have a local shop do it, make sure you get the specs for the upgraded clutch pack kit.

I'm hoping elite will release this information. I'm gonna do some basics for now untill I can swing a big expensive one. My stocker is really hating life right and idk how long it's gonna last

IMO, if you can't afford to do it right the first time, then you DEFINITELY can't afford to do it a second time. This is one component of the truck that will bite ya hard if not done correctly. If you're going with any sort of performance clutch kit, I would steer clear of the "local" trans shop. It'll only be a couple hundred bucks difference and you'll be able to have the peace of mind knowing someone who builds these things regularly to hold power built yours. Again, JMO here.

The plan was never to go this big. And when I got the deal with these parts to go bigger I was hoping the trans would last more than a month. So what am I suppose to do? Just park the truck and walk every where? This is my only vehicle. It's been fine until last night where it messed up. Now it's back to normal. So what would you do in my shoes?

You can get by at the 600-650hp mark with a stout rebuild and no billet pieces, then down the road if you plan to take this any further, pull it out and have the billet pieces installed.

We did this in our shop truck. It is sitting right at the 600hp mark ISH with a john woods transmission and torque converter, no billet parts. Once we take it to the next level the transmission will have billet parts installed and the rest of it refreshed.
As it sits right now, we have BEAT on it with 100% nozzles and an s362, and it runs fantastic. It has not missed a single beat and with the way he has set it up, spools the turbo so much more effortlessly.

Seriously consider going with a reputable builder and converter, then do billet pieces later on down the road if you feel like you need them.

I have found a guy that can do it and does it for ford for a living jd was nice enough to send me some specs to give to him so it can be installed properly. I will at least throw a billet input shaft, elite clutches, dpc converter in and we will see how it fairs. I doubt I'll more than 600hp out of this truck. And if I do I know I'll be looking at all billet internals.

I am just saying the likes of Elites stage 1 rebuild, with good tuning, will hold your power level. Shift firmness is what kills shafts MUCH faster than horsepower or launches.
I have been very impressed with what the factory shafts will handle, we built this transmission simply to test their ability.
