What's the point of the aluminum spring bushings? Can te factory ones be retained?

A steel sleeve sits inside the aluminum sleeve. The arm the rod attaches to pivots on the steel sleeve and the aluminum sleeve supports the steel sleeve. Yes you need it, the stock one won't work.
