If I'm not mistaken, I think you will need to grind down/round off the corners of the mounting bracket where the body of the pump bolt down to it. The CAT filter is a little larger on the OD so it needs a little extra clearance. I have not done this but remember reading it somewhere, shouldnt take much more than a few minutes, does not need much grinding.

I use Donaldson P551315 fuel 3 micron absolute and Donaldson P550550 water/fuel separator 20 micron you just need to trim the tabs where the pump bolts on to the bracket..

Id like to know what part number cat filter you use. Ive got the AD165 for my 7.3 and I couldnt find a Cat filter that had the same threads on it. Maybe I didnt look hard enough in our parts room.

fwiw if you just shift the pump in the bracket just right you dont have to cut any of the corners off. mine has had a cat filter on it since it was new. you also have to remove the 3 tabs or the filter will not thread all the way on.

I run the Cat filter on my AD setup. I didn't have cut or grind the bracket. Make sure you lube the threads on the filter and pump base.

Nope. Delong mentioned in his post what to do to avoid modification. Make sure you remove those three plastic tabs like he mentioned also. I cant stress it enough about lubing the threads. I was without my truck for 4 days thanks to that blunder. Filter siezed up 3/4 of the way up and I had to spin the pickup tube out of the pump base to get the pickup and filter off.

I wonder if there would be any advantage to using Cats ultra high efficiency fuel filters over the high efficiency 1r0750 filter. The UHE filters are used on the 4.4 and 6.6 common rail engines. I dont know how much finer they filter down to over the HE or if they would have problems flowing enough fuel. One of these two filters is probably the same threads as the 1r0750, but im not sure which one: 319-0844 or 306-9199 .

just my opinion here but the two micron absolute that I use now is a huge improvement over any other factory filter that comes on ford, chevy, or dodge, iirc the chevy's newest filter is 4 micron at best and 10 absolute. that in its own it a huge improvement, i do know that cat offers a 1 micron filter but i did some reading and it may not be ideal for cold temps(trying to push thick cold fuel through it) also i was worried about it's capability to flow enough fuel when i run wot in my big tunes.

Check the Pureflow Airdog vendor section on compd.
There are a few threads there about alternate filters.
Or just google it. Lots of people have done this.
