It was dark when I finished. I'll snap one next chance I get. I recommend the Beans sump hands down. One hole, one bolt, done. Has a tall lip that fits in the hole, and a fat o-ring that seals against the bottom of the tank. Drill your hole in the center of that indent and it fits in there well. Like I said, I had to remove the umbrella from the pick up before the whole unit would fit all the way down in the tank.

I want to plumb in a fuel shutoff in the supply line from the sump. Will a regular old 1/2" ball valve work fine in a diesel application? Don't really care how it looks as it'll be tucked up against the frame rail. Trying to keep from having to order and wait on yet another part. Been waiting for over two weeks now as it is on 6 little parts, and still don't have them all yet.

I would look for one with the WOG"" rating water oil and gas or maybe order one for diesel from say Duda bio
this is one ( you can see the WOG cast from Homey Depot

if you use say a shark bite push lock I am not sure their o rings can handle diesel ? i would find a compression style ??

I just happened to have a pex fitting on my truck. Hope this helps. Don't know if it will fit 1/2" fuel line.

What's up Zmann. Didn't think you where here too.

Don't see why it wouldnt. It's 1/2" ID hose...not like we are talking about a ton of pressure either. Still might check the local big box stores and see if they have a regular barbed end valve.

Thanks for the visual.

Little update..

Those fittings work great. Like I said, they fit the factory hardlines perfect...nice and secure, easy to install, and don't leak.

Now...this fat bich is still dropping pressure after installing the sump. However, it's not as bad as before. The truck is actually drive able now, which it wasnt before, so there was an issue with the supply line or pick up tube for sure. It'll drop from 60 down into the lower 50's with moderate driving now, which before it'd be under 45 far too easy. Noticed now the quick connect on the supply line to the engine (engine side of hfcm) had fuel on it. You can push/pull it in and out and small amounts of fuel will squirt out. Checked the orings in it and they look fine, so I've ordered some -6 line/fittings to make a new supply line up to the factory hard line off the upper filter housing. I did push a little air through that hard line up into the filter housing with a hand pump just to make sure it was clean and clear, which it is.

I tried just running some extra rubber line I had between the 2 to see if that would fix it, but I can't get it to seal under pressure. If this doesn't fix it, then I have no clue what else it could be.

How bout swapping the pump to an aftermarket deal? Thatd get rid of the factory connectors, which you are having issues with, and fix it. Glad to see the major issue is fixed.

Yep, both gauges are at idle about 2-4psi.

Because dropping $500+ on a fuel system during the offseason isn't a viable option. After I replace this supply line, the only factory connectors I'll have left will be the ones on the return line.

You're still pulling air. If you have a mitivac, try pulling a vacuum on the pre pump line. If possible pull a vacuum thru the dtrm also--when cold the fuel comes thru the return line from motor, thru dtrm and bypasses back to engine with more supply fuel. Gotta figure out where the air leak is.

Stupid question now, but does it run ok? Maybe you got an injector starting to leak. I had one have the lower oring wear, not totally fail, on stock injectors, and it started pumping black smoke on smog rev ups in stock tune. I also noticed my air dog was dropping from 60 psi to 50 on wot runs. After i replaced the injectors pressure holds at 65-70 psi and drops to 60-65 on wot. Just a random thought now though....

That's the weird thing....the truck runs perfect. No smoke, no lugging, no missing. Nothing. If I didn't have FP gauges, I'd never know there was an issue. Something injector related did cross my mind earlier, but the whole coincidence of it starting when it did is just too hard to believe.

I don't see how my pre pump line could be sucking air. It's just a 1/2" line from the sump to the HFCM inlet. And an issue with DTRM....on 3 totally different HFCM assemblies, all acting exactly the same? I wonder what would happen if I capped both return ports on the HFCM and ran a solid return line from the regulator to the tank? Just completely bypass the return side of the HFCM...

Wont hurt to give it a shot at this point i figure. At least its somewhat driveable now though.

Are you using the factory regulator?
